This thread is for anyone who has stumbled into a "bus stop NOT IN USE" sign and wants to know a bit more about its history.

It needn't to have a sign stating "bus stop NOT IN USE", any abandoned bus stop will do. School buses only stop is fine if you know (or think) it was used for normal passenger bus services before.

All the old 26 stops are still in situ on Highfield Road between Alum Rock Road and Washwood Heath Road. It's been that long now that I assume they've been forgotten about.

There's a shelter not in use just off six ways Aston from the 123 and the old 40X routes

There are a couple of shelters still on Fazeley Street from when the 97 went down there.

Yes, and the shelters are all still down Cattell Road from when the 96 used to serve that road prior to being withdrawn in the same set of changes that saw the 97 rerouted. I think I recall this was all done in 2005?

Bus Shelters on both sides of Heaton Street, Hockley. Both of them (still) in Centro Green/Yellow colours. Former bus stops to the Inner Circle services 8A & 8C. Also, an 8A Bus stop pole, abandoned, and faded quite severely...

In addition to these in Hockley, there's one in Quinton, specifically near Welsh House Farm. Now that the 99 (then, 636) serves the same bus stop going to different destinations: (Note the photo was taken in August 2012; since then this bus stop is no longer in use...)

there used to be some on Brades Road, Oldbury when the 120 went that way. looked on Google Maps but Centro must have removed them.

There's a few unused bus stops on Dogkennel Lane in Langley from the old 88 days

The bus stops either side of Thimble End Road (aka Walmley By-pass) near Springfield Road are still there and showing Not in Use, last time I looked.  They were on the dog-leg on the old 68A/C route before buses started going straight down the Walmley Road.

The other interesting anomaly locally is the pair of bus stops at the top end of Rectory Road near the junction with Coleshill Road (back of Holy Trinity Church).  These have been signed "not in use" since the demise of Rotala's 119 Falcon Lodge service.  But nowadays, the 110 and the 904 (one way) both pass them.  So are they back in use or not?  I'll have to try getting off there one day!

And, as far as I'm aware, the service numbers on the bus stops in Riland Road still show 110 and 904 despite the re-routing ....

Heath Street, Winson Green, nearest junction with Dudley Road (since the end of the old 66)

Bus stop on the main road outside PE garage is now showing as Not In Use now the 297 doesn't run down there.
