Why not NXC Bendibuses on the foleshill route ?

Another problem with the Bendis is that the additional seating capacity they offer over a standard single decker isn't that great, NXWM Scania Artics seat 58 whilst the NXC Citaros seat 56; therefore we are looking at a maximum of 13 or 15 extra seats respectively over a 43 seat Omnilink or B7RLE. Much of the extra capacity they can carry is by standing passengers; unfortunately the majority of the UK travelling public prefer a seat unlike in continental Europe.

A typical NXWM E400 double decker can seat 77 which is 34 more seats than a standard single decker & double the additional seats an artic can accommodate over a standard single decker

What is the capacity of a bendi? I think the Coventry citations are 120 but maybe wrong. The wrights B7 has a capacity of 100 and returns mpg 3 to 4 times better. So where is the advantage?

firstbuses FTRs can get around 110 Without Wheelchair

Another factor to consider on the Foleshill Road is that NXC do not have a monopoly.  Stagecoach 48 runs every 10 minutes with 38 seat Enviro 200s.  Some years ago the 48 was every 30 minutes - it was the frequency improvements that brought Stagecoach more trade and made the effort for them worthwhile.

For a while Stagecoach 48 was more frequent than NXC 20 to Bedworth for much of the day.  You can't let that happen and expect to get most of the passengers, so NXC rightly improved the 20 to at least match the 48.

Quote from: JoNi on February 25, 2013, 09:24:41 PMThere are enough spare buses that only need to be used during Monday to Friday daytime. You could easily change over the three needed in the evening and save fuel as other buses terminate close to both ends of the 4 and run empty to the bus garage.

I really don't understand why NXC don't swap their buses over a bit more where preferential.
Other operators do this all the time, as in many times a day.

When a single decker is out on the 11/12 at night, surely they could just run it in and swap it so lots of people don't have to stand?
And as far as I can see, you're right that it is a waste for bendis to be out on the 4 at night.

Bendibuses won't on the 11/12 due to people complaint about Earlsdon tower roundabout.

This is true.
I still think that the 11/12 are the routes most suited to bendies, apart from Foleshill or maybe the 8's.
Though most uni kids wouldn't necessarily enjoy travelling in on them, with even more people probably having to stand!

Stagecoach workings running into Coventry have different sized buses depending on load factors. There are single deck and Solo workings on X15 and 16 on specific journeys with buses interworking with other routes such as the 26 to Redditch from Stratford. Nuneaton uses Solos on the 57 in the evening.

NXC are still recovering from the Network Review where routes were largely seperated from each other. Sensible interworking has been reintroduced as each route receives a revised timetable to better reflect actual running times. The NXC 16/A and 18/A are being being done next weekend.

The 20/A/E hasn't been done yet and suffers from poor reliability in the evening peak when a bus is nicked to cover a school bus and during Sunday daytime when the 30 minute service often runs together with Stagecoaches 48 which runs every 30 minutes almost at the same time!

All late evening workings on the 12 start as evening peak buses and should be double deck but single deckers are used as a last resort, there are also more workings in the evening peak, with the double deckers from morning peak workings often used to cover breakdowns during the day.

If feel annoyed having to stand COMPLAIN!
