I was wondering in your opinion what are the slowest buses in the NX fleet (Bus types and specific buses can both be mentioned)

The slowest NXWM bus i've been on is probably by far PE B6 502. I caught it on the 244 and it was struggling even up the slightest hills at almost walking pace (Nitromatt1 will back me up on this ;)

Liberator9

The B6s sometimes were awful; 627 was a prime example stuck at about 15 mph trying to get up a long shallow hill near my house!

Seeing as 244 is the Walsall tachograph bus and has been regularly used for taking the Walsall College Football team for away matches as far away as places like Gloucester it cannot be that bad a bus. It is amazing how good drivers driving correctly can give the impression of a slow bus. A driver driving badly will give passengers a rough ride and this may give the impression of a fast ride. 4800 is another bus that has been critisised on here, but I was revenue checking on the 9 today and the driver with 4800 was quite happy with its performance.

I think he meant 244 the route, Tony?

Trident 4609

Yes i did mean the 244 route :) I said 502 on the 244 route

nitromatt1

Just to clarify, 4800 is slow in comparison to the other Enviros in the batch. In reality, its performance is probably only slightly worse than an average Transbus Trident. The fact that the 09-plate Enviros are generally very powerful buses makes 4800 seem slower than it perhaps is.

However, it was diabolical going up the hills of the 241's route a couple of months back!

There is a difference between driving correctly and struggling up a hill at little over walking pace, I think even the slowest of drivers wouldn't travel at that speed by choice

Well... speak for yourself haha

4049 on the 5. takes ages pulling away and going up the Newton Road hill just after Hamstead Road, compared to others such as 4114 and 4083 which seem to fly up there.
an empty bus is a happy driver.

I hope you aren't being serious ;)

I rode 4800 on the 9 this morning and it felt much faster! Perhaps it's had some work done to it
Now that it's not so slow (not much slower than a normal E400) 4800 is one of my favourites as it makes a really nice sound at high revs

swifty

Some days I could have cried at the p**s poor speed of that bus!!!!!!! the fact that L Plate Drivers, Farmers in Tractors and OAP's in Mobility Scooters could outrun it on that hill was just so cringe worthy!!! lol
No I don't go to F**KING SMETHWICK!!!!!!!
