Ignoring boards, topics, users

Dear forum users,

Following requests from members, I have added some new functionality to the forum which will allow users to 'ignore' posts made in certain topics, as well as ignore posts made by certain members.

Ignoring boards

This feature can be found in your Forum Profile > Modify Profile > Ignore Boards Options

This page lets you ignore particular boards. When a board is ignored, the new post indicator will not show up on the board index. New posts will not show up using the "unread post" search link (when searching it will not look in those boards) however, ignored boards will still appear on the board index and upon entering will show which topics have new posts. When using the "unread replies" link, new posts in an ignored board will still be shown.

Ignoring topics

You can ignore particular topics so that they will not appear in Unread/UnreadReplies nor the recent.
However they will still show in the BoardIndex and MessageIndex and you will still be able to access the topics.

From any Unread Topics view, simply tick the box next to any topics that are not of interest to you, and then click the 'Ignore Topics' button.



Those topics will no longer appear in your list of 'Unread Topics'.

You can mange your list of Ignored Topics from your forum profile settings, simply go to Modify Profile > Ignore Topics Options

Here, you can choose to 'un-ignore' topics, so they appear in your Unread Posts view again.

Ignoring users

If for some reason you wish to ignore posts and replies made by certain members, you can now add that user to your own Ignore List.

Go to your Forum Profile > Modify Profile > Buddies/Ignore List > Edit ignore list

Enter the username of the member you wish to ignore and click the Add button to add them to the list.

If you change your mind at a later date, go back to the Ignore list and click the red X icon to remove them.

You will still see where that member has posted in topics, but their post content will be hidden from your view, you can of course at any time click the 'Show Me The Post' link that appears if you want to see what they posted.

There's still a few members of the forum that appear to be struggling to set-up Stu's new 'Ignore' forum tools.
