End of the road for 154

Looks like it's the end for the 154;Hednesfield to Wolverhampton via Cannock a real shame it linked places up that it's hard to get to by bus, had extra early journeys for work. Arriva reduced the 70 to hourly some time ago, whenever I saw the 154 there was always quite a few people aboard. On the NXWM site it says I54 cut the funding it will end in February 2018.

Its a shame though, as Wolves depot seemed to take more risks than Walsall re out of county routes.

They could have chosen to dump Wombourne from the network but didnt.

Also Wolves unlike Walsall, introduced the Sunday 69!

What was stopping Walsall introducing that Sunday 69?

I read somewhere that the factories on Leamore Lane by what was Frank F Harrison school only got traffic at peak times/shift changes, so Walsall could have rerouted the 70 turning right at Leamore Lane instead of left & heading to Bloxwich via Somerfield Rd then extending the route to Dudleys Fields via Sandbank & Central Drive then onto Mossley, turning at that terminus.

For the southern bit of Dudley Fields, reroute the 326 via Heather Road, Frank F, then turn at Short Heath shops or Poets Corner back onto New Invention.

I heavily doubt it's a depot based decision. I would imagine the powers that be, decide the viability of the route and if it was decided to withdrawn it, it was made after careful consideration from the head office with relevant WN staff having some input.

Heard a rumour that there will be a review in April. Apparently, the 54 will be gone by then. I must stress this is just a rumour that I have heard.

Shame they've just reprinted the fares leaflet showing the map showing those areas!

if they had of listened to the input of relevant staff maybe it could have done much better. it had potential from the off. I hope the 54 stays but looking doubtful. it was never really pushed and advertised properly i.e timetables and bus stop info in staffs area.
