The older trams will all eventually be replaced by newer ones, I think it would be very difficult logistically to replace them all in one go, so of course as new ones arrive and enter service, the older type will be gradually withdrawn. I'm sure that's what I read elsewhere, with the older trams being sold off to other operators, possibly in Europe.

Read somewhere the older ones were being kept for the potential new Wednesbury to Merry Hill line.
