Quote from: Stu on Yesterday at 04:15:41 PMI would understand the renumbering, eg A1 to 601, if there were any meaningful changes to the service.

But both the A1 and A2 are being renumbered "for the sake of it"; apart from the change of operator, there is no change to route or timetable.

Surely it would be more cost-effective to keep the existing route numbers? Because after all there is now an additional cost incurred by having to print off a load of new vinyls for the bus stop flags, as well as print off new timetable posters. And then pay the contractor (Mitie?) to go around and replace them all.

What a waste of time and money, especially since these are already subsidised services.
Maybe it's part of a longer vision linked to the new mayors franchising plan, I would like think they are strategically planning but some how I doubt it.

Quote from: Gareth on Yesterday at 11:11:25 AMThe constant renumbering of routes does nothing apart from confuse everybody. And since one of the reason for ditching certain groups of numbers was it was easier to remember two digits than three, have people's memories suddenly got better?
It's almost like they change their minds every couple of decades

So ditching the Alpha routes with numerical numbers , wondering if the Acocks green to airport still on the cards?

Quote from: Tony on November 15, 2024, 07:14:00 PMThat is the aim when all the work is complete.

There's also a short section of Bus Lane outbound after Floodgate Street to stop through traffic using Digbeth and High Street Deritend, but allows vehicles access to all properties.
I live in Digbeth and all kinds of anti car plans to force people onto the ring road and make streets including where the my apartment is, one way. Got to love BCC and there continual ability to waste tax payers money. Rant over.

Quote from: Gareth on October 05, 2024, 07:49:55 PMCan't quite find a suitable place to put this, but as it relates to BC services, here we are.

The 94 and 95 service has had for quite a while a Monday to Friday service listed as every 5-7 minutes between certain hours. The timetable at bus stop has been quite need at tidy.

The new ones at bus stops replaced the last couple of days are as long as a novel. There's a Monday to Thursday service and a Friday service, all listed as separate times. With only a very small handful of timing differences throughout the day. Who was responsible for that layout?! Every 5-7 minutes during the day still work. And the odd minor change on Fridays can be listed separately without the current mess.
Is it that journey times are not as busy on fridays as more people working at home so the intermediate timing points change, how else should they document that? Tricky one really.

Quote from: GoldenSquid on October 02, 2024, 01:24:02 PMOne thing Birmingham needs to copy from London is yellow box cameras. When driving the 94/95 at peak times, its horrible going across the A47/A4540 junction with so many cars blocking the junction.
Got a fine in ealing for literally being in a box less than 10 secs, what is holding them back with sorting traffic technology out here ?.

They seem to get it right in certain parts of london with camera enforcement, a start for brum to switch them on and everybody knowing they work.

Quote from: ellspurs on August 30, 2024, 12:57:58 PMOr it'd be a service that allows people from the other side of Solihull a direct link to the airport, same as the x12 is doing to North Solihull and the 97a is now for east Birmingham.
There have been loads of services over the years that have come and gone linking south brum to the airport , so unlikely would impact x12. Ie 174, 38 and 6 just a few I can think of.
