They're not in the new Stagecoach 'almost black' livery. Maybe delivered before it was introduced.

The Platinum stop/start, as far as I can see, isn't entirely consistent so must be unnerving to drivers, and stop/starting a Cummins diesel is much lumpier than any car. Surely a waste of money, if more maintenance is required.

I must admit I'd never noticed these alphanumeric codes before. So NS is New Street and MS Moor Street, I suppose/

What are NS2 etc? I presume they're bus stop numbers. Do all stops have numbers? Is there an explanation behind the codes?

Volvo / MCV MHV 97 appears on several photos on the most recent First and others, below the proper photo.

I lived in the 1950s and 1960s almost opposite the Maypole terminus of the 48 and 50 and must have done very many hundreds of journeys on Moseley Road Daimler CVD6s, and on the three 1937 Daimler COG5s that came out in the rush hour, 1055, 1060 and 1107. I've got photos somewhere.

I rode on 6709 on the 4 to city on Wednesday; a couple had their feet on the seats and after chewing away on sweets and sharing a drink from a can just left the bag and the can on the rear seat. I glared at them...

Quote from: 2900 on August 22, 2024, 08:54:11 AMPlatinum is the new standard spec, its done its job of raising the specification standard, i think the last batch of standard NXWM buses are 6100s 9 years a go now.
I agree - it's the now standard spec, so that's why I asked if the Platinum brand will continue when it's become almost meaningless - in a good way!

I expect the Platinums will get repainted, presumably in standard all-over grey, but will the Platinum brand be continued? As I understand it all vehicles since the last Platinums have been to Platinum specification, so perhaps there's no need to continue the brand.

More Sparkbrook diversions on NXWM's site:
From Monday 12th August until Friday 30th August approximately, Stratford Road will be closed between Walford Road and Camp Hill for Severn Trent works. During this time, services 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5 & 6 will be diverted.  Buses will divert from Warwick Road via Golden Hillock Road, Poets Corner roundabout, Small Heath Highway, Bordesley Circus, Bordesley Middleway, and Camp Hill to rejoin the normal line of route.  I don't know if these have started.

I didn't know any of the Platinums were hybrids. They're not like the 54xx hybrids.

So are overall adverts permitted on Zenobe leases?

I saw 4470 running along Moor St Queensway this afternoon, not in service.
