Are Arriva going to have some buses in Telford colours which they then won't use in Telford

????

To be fair, they were being used on the Leighton Buses contract up to and including last Saturday, 31st May. They were then transferred to Leicestershire (presumably on Sunday) and started service for Midlands on Monday. So, not much time to do any (really just cosmetic) branding changes in the single day when they weren't working.

It's probably a reasonable trade-off for the branding to remain for a short while - Arriva seem to struggle at times to find enough vehicles for service. I'm not surprised they were put into service so quickly as there was an increase in the number of vehicles required. I imagine that the previous branding will be removed over the next few weeks (3155 doesn't seem to have worked here yet so maybe that is being dealt with first?). The alternative might well have been missing journeys on other routes if they needed to source vehicles for the new Leicestershire County Council LC14 and LC16 routes.

Arriva are rarely perfect and can often do silly things that others manage to avoid. However, to transfer 4 buses to Leics in just hours after they finished service elsewhere is something to  be applauded rather than criticised.

I clocked bus 3153 operating the 1525 departure, on service LC16, from Loughborough. On its exterior, offside it still wore vinyls for 'Leighton's Buses' and 'Have a great journey! This bus service is made possible by Central Bedfordshire Council'. Is it really? Arriva's usual attention to detail on delivery reigning supreme then...

To be fair, the bus entered service in Leics just a few hours after leaving Beds.

I finally saw one of the Nuneaton electrics on the 148 today on Watling Street. I assume it was a 148 as it didn't seem like the rear display was working. It also had "Stagecoach" in large letters twice on the back panel (I think the lower one would usually have an advert on it). Couldn't take a picture as I was driving.

Plenty of many Yutongs on 148 today - they look very smart.

I am not aware that MCV Evoras provide an electric version.  The last conversation we had with Volvo, was around buying 67 buses for Tranche 1 in Manchester.  Volvo signed an order, and then refused to deliver to the agreed order.  I am sure you can understand, our hesitation around any future relationship after that.

So - No.  Volvo were never under consideration.

Well done, I wish more operators would take similar action. Volvo, of all people should know that a good reputation can be easily lost.

I'm not convinced that they really know what to do with it. There's seems to be limited interest from other areas, or enthusiasm for this further type.

I think I need to be another to exit this thread. It never gets anywhere, few people ever agree and even more seem to have little or no real understanding of how businesses work.

The time-served members of the forum have seen these posts recycled over and over. I make a number of calculated assumptions about Arriva and Chaserider, though always come back to my overriding thought............

What happens if Chaserider pull out?

I don't see any current competition on the routes, no other operators willing to run routes, yet Chaserider are lambasted constantly.

As has been said may times, if you think or know you can do better, set up a company to do it. I guarantee they won't!

I'm often amazed that a certain J Peddle continues the battle in the Chaserider area and can only assume that any significant route withdrawals by him would now probably lead to just the odd 1-2 routes left.

For some context, I own and use a 2008 diesel car - it's no looker but it does what I want it to do.

I tax it, insure it, fuel it, pay clean air zone charges and carry The Duchess and the family in it knowing full well there are better cars around, but why would I knowing that it gets a hammering 7 days a week, it carries all of my work kit in it in a quasi-van fashion and I repair it when it breaks down.

Point is, I have a CHOICE to make a change, as do the travelling public, and the operators, but I don't. That's my choice.

It wouldn't matter if the whole fleet was renewed with new top quality buses, there's people on this thread that will moan and complain about absolutely everything.

There's a separate funding stream for the Coventry Electric Bus City project which will see more being delivered then.

Once they've all arrived, I see no reason why they wouldn't be used on all services - would be a bit silly saying that x bus can only be used on y route because of how it was funded!

Arriva Leicester's electrics should be allocated to 4 city routes (first batch) or the 5/A/127 (second batch) as they were funded differently.

I am in Nuneaton Monday - Friday and as of yet I've not managed to see one out. I've noticed that they've moved more of the orange buses onto the 48a (which normally has the standard coloured buses) so it would suggest some movements have gone on.

Five on 148 Leicester the other day.
