Quote from: JosephR on September 24, 2024, 06:06:11 AMGranted this is me paying too much attention to detail. Though if you look intensively you can see this is an e400mmc, with the same thin white vinyl (under the top and bottom window, and in between the headlights) that the new electrics have. Will the platinum repaints have more of an effort made with the livery as per above with the branding? Normally repaints have the red vinyl at the front in between headlights, though this looks white.
Looking at 6717 now it turns out I predicted right. The extra efforts looks much better on these vehicles.

Quote from: BlackCountryBusSpotter on November 20, 2024, 11:07:53 AMIt must be a Birmingham thing as The 82/87, 8/X8 and 529 are all still branded along with for now the 9, X10 and 50. The 529 Buses are mostly used on the 529 and even if they are used on the 8 or X8 or 79 or the 1 or other routes they usually Don't confuse people
I don't agree with it just being 'a Birmingham thing'. The Black Country aren't really an exemption. We can already see efforts being made with the single deck fleet over there.

I did notice recently that the 9 branded vehicles have their internal branding removed. So I understand an effort is being made to rid branding entirely/ everywhere.

Most of the older vehicles that are branded are going through the repaint process. And the newer platinum' brands leave no residue behind as we can see from 16 examples. I doubt halfway through next year route branding will exist at all.

With the X21/22, 23/24 brands' being the only branded buses at BC aswell as a common occurrence on the X12/13 and 97/A it makes sense.

Factoring in BC is planned to close. With both an east and south replacement garage, bound to be electric ready. The X21 etc brand vehicles may not even go to either of these garages for long, if at all.

Quote from: Jack on November 08, 2024, 07:03:49 PMIt looks fine to me, just because the outlines are still there. Most buses that get debranded look like that, doesn't look tatty at all, seen worse when the branding takes the paint off it.

Look at pictures of when the Walsall Road Tridents or Line 33 Geminis got debranded or even the toothpaste B7RLE's, they was tatty. 6803 still looks respectable.
They definitely need a little more attention than that. They've worn their branding well for several years. The route branding is now outdated and clearly still visible. The livery is outdated. Can't just slap on new style branding onand call it a day.

The image I just seen of 6803 on fb looks awful. should have just kept Sutton line branding, at least till it could be polished out/ ad wrapped / repainted. Wouldn't be so scruffy looking if that branding weren't just bodged on.

Quote from: 2900 on October 17, 2024, 06:27:11 PMDeactivate it I say , just annoying , how much fuel are you saving when it restarts after 2 seconds
Probably used more fuel, switched back on immediately and the cost of starting the engine up again.

The wet fabric on a rainy day is my main concern. The seats get damp and start to smell. We the passengers get wet/damp. Really isn't pleasant. I can agree leather gets quite 'sticky' in summer. Some people may find them cold in winter though I don't think it's noticeable while wrapped up warm.
there is pros and cons to both

Didn't know where else to put this. I have long wondered why NX don't like to use faux leather seats, I don't imagine they would harbour half as much dirt/ bacteria, and would be way easier to clean. I doubt they would wear out that bad by the time NX get round to their regular refurb process too.

Will the 8a/c be getting a frequency decrease as they now have double decks?

If the outer circle was split in half to protect reliability, how will connecting two whole bus routes comprised into one differ?

Quote from: Ingleboro261F on September 30, 2024, 07:45:37 AMHow come they didn't go to AG like all the other 16 platinums?
Probably a temporary change (judging by gaps in fleet numbers), got to remember that YW are yet to release cascades aswell.

Thanks for that information. with the last 7 diesel doubles took away from that equation that leaves 13 singles as surplus, could be more if we are going by the amount of seats replaced.
