Quote from: Sandy Lane on Today at 07:39:45 AMWhat are Arriva's plans to switch over to EV's for the small number their services serving Coventry by end of 2025?
eg, the 74 and X6.
Afaik the X6 is excluded as it's a coach service.

although just lately uses more buses than coaches, maybe time for an upgrade to higher-spec electric deckers

Quote from: TheMidlandsTransportGuy on June 21, 2025, 12:31:59 PME200MMC 3110 has a very dark LED screen on the 153
If you mean the next stop announcement screen inside then some of them have a black background which makes them appear dark.

Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on June 19, 2025, 10:32:46 PMHmm.. that's what I thought. Especially when the old operator ran the route it usually had double deckers. Whilst it was nice Arriva used AirCon coaches - I feel it's a shame only 1 actually in the road. I'm sure there were 4 too?
Yes there was 4 at one stage but one was only really used for the duplicate journeys so was sent down south (Luton?).

Travel De Courcey used the olympus deckers (until 1 got a bit hot on the M69) with an optare tempo then some MCV Evolutions

Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on June 19, 2025, 03:26:50 PMWhat's wrong with the 3 (or at 1 point 4) coaches for the X6?
I see today, only 1 out! Rest are standard (rather old) single deckers..
7104 has a engine issue and has been off for a while.
7103 last tracked on 13th June so could be having an MOT or prep for MOT.

Wonder if it's time to swap the coaches for double deckers or even new coaches?

Yeah as it looks to be a 75 min round trip.

Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on June 13, 2025, 10:48:31 PMService changes forthcoming. Nothing major.. mostly just minor cuts for school holiday - which always happens.
Although something interesting is the 18/19..
19 is being withdrawn. 18 is extending to Fosse Park (for all journeys). Of course, 19 was very lightly used to Thorpe Astley, so that of course was expected (and also orbital restored the Thorpe Astley bit daily when it changed last month to 40S).
What it does mean is the 18 will run every 15mins Mon-Fri, and every 20mins Sat&Sun (this is a big timing improvement especially on Sundays!). The service is also going to run later too! Hopefully this change will prove popular.
Interestingly despite the 21T Centrebus service starting - there appears to be no co-ordination of timing to the 21, and the 4E appears to still be running too. Is this firsts way of "retaliation"? After all the "Leicester buses" was supposed to stop duplication on routes!
If you search on bustimes.org for a date after 14th July on the 18/19 page it shows the 18 as every 20 mins to fosse park and Sundays an odd 40 min frequency.

A shame the 19 is being cut but with the Novus providing quicker journeys in to Leicester it was inevitable it wouldn't last long.

Quote from: Mayfield on June 03, 2025, 04:50:16 PMJust seen on of the 3145-52 batch on the 58 it looks disgusting, back end filthy black and diesel spillage stains all down the O/S
Noticed this too across some of the fleet, possibly an issue with the bus wash at Thurmaston..

Quote from: Fin W on May 06, 2025, 11:48:50 AMSolos 312, 313, 314 and enviros 591 & 592 have had next stop announcements fitted. They have the same system as the evoras but these don't have rear facing screens.
591/592 have had them a few weeks.

I'm sure I read somewhere that anything newer than a 74 plate needs to have a rear facing screen for any potential wheelchair users so they can see upcoming stops.

Edit:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-onboard-announcements-to-make-britains-buses-accessible-for-everyone

"The AV aids will include ensuring audio is available through induction loop systems, and all new vehicles introduced after October 2024 must also include visible information which can be seen by a wheelchair user when travelling in a rearward facing wheelchair space."

An updated 21/21T timetable is currently displayed at Haymarket Bus Station stand HT

Looks like it will be a Mon-Sat 30 min/Sunday hourly timetable

Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on May 01, 2025, 01:58:09 AMStrange that.. as the original plan was for First to just extend the 21... This almost makes a duplication, something which the Leicester bus plan was supposed to stop? Or maybe I'm missing something, is Centrebus taking over the 21?
it would work better with an enhanced 21(Blount Road)/21A(Thorpebury) every 15 mins to Barkby Road/Thurmaston Lane then split off.

Although the 21T looks like it will restore Sunday buses to Catherine Street something that has been missing for many years.
