Big gaps on the 1 too and then 16.10 never ran again from Walsall. Seriously how do they expect to attract custom? I wonder how many Cannock to Walsall trips on the X51 have been cancelled or simply not turned up in comparison with the Chaserider embarrassment?

The driver shortage in the industry is very challenging - hard to do much about some of it but customer info would be good if journeys are missing.

So Hinckley will regain full depot status for the services in that area? Interesting. Will some services currently at Wigston or Thurmaston transfer over there or will they all remain/move to Thurmaston?

I understand the 158 will move to Hinckley from Thurmaston.

Tanat Valley have gained the Town Services I gather. Arriva will continue the 401 commercially.

Arriva have retained the 405 as well - although originally told that they had lost it.

Interesting change at the end of August. Arriva has cancelled the 164 from Market Drayton to Hanley.

I've just read "WilliamLeylandNational's" comments about Chaserider and he like others seems to mis-understand the link between D&G Bus and Select Bus Services.  They do not have common owners and do not have the same livery colours.  D&G is a wholly owned subsidiary of Centrebus whose majority shareholder is Julian Peddle.  Select is owned by Ben Brown with Julian Peddle as a minority shareholder.  The liveries are not the same, granted they are both red but the shades used are very different both in the main colour and the skirt, Select skirt colour is very much darker, put side by side the differences are easily seen, From a personal point of view I prefer the Select colours.  They do work closely together in that Select have taken surplus vehicles from both D&G and Centrebus (I assume some payment would have been made) and some routes in the area have been swopped.  It's also worth noting that D&G have moved operation of two Stafford services from their Adderley Green depot to Cannock.

There's plenty of drivers working what I consider, immoral duties/weeks where they'll have a ridiculously low rest period. If it takes you an hour to commute, that's reducing "rest" to 7.5 hours. You might then eat, relax, unwind and take a shower. Easily 2-3 hours can go by. Leaves you with how much sleep? Work it out. Is it safe to be in charge of a bus for 8-10 hours the following day?

I've refused plenty of duties for various operators. I'm always challenged with "it's not illegal." I reply, "it's not moral." Usually when I get my weeks printout, I would point it out and give them plenty of notice that I won't be working those hours. Once you kick up a fuss, most operators will avoid giving you stupid duties/short rest periods. They'll still get thrown onto those drivers who don't kick up a fuss though.

It's the same story with buses without heating. If you don't kick up a fuss, they'll keep giving you cold buses and the warm ones will go to those drivers who actually speak up about it. Not many drivers actually refuse to drive. I would often call the traffic office before leaving my house just to remind them, I will refuse a bus with no heating. After a while I was never given buses without heating.

Operators priority is do whatever it takes to complete all mileage. It's rare to find operators who actually give a damn about anything outside what is legal and what is not legal, and even then the lines are often blurred...

Rare?  What proof do you have of that?

It would seem more likely that the 1 would come back to offer a direct service between Cannock and Walsall now that the X51 is not as direct anymore.
