I think that's missing my point though - I'm not criticising the service offering. I just feel it could be presented in a far, far clearer way to passengers than it currently is.

The Saturday service is Tendered & looking at the timetable even though I dont know the area I can see the 877 & 878 are designed to drop you off on the way back for the other route maximising the carrying potential for 1 bus

And we can see that, as people with an interest in / knowledge of bus. But what the industry as a whole does a poor job of realising, understanding or enacting, is that the average member of public does not. They want an easy, convenient, reliable and straightforward service to get them where they want to go. Operational convenience is of zero relevance to most customers.

Operational convenience is vital for longevity, but marketing & PR can and should be done in such a way that disguises this in a package that suits the above market.

It's not a core city service you know it's a rural service designed to keep rural communities connected which in my opinion & since it's been running so long it does well.
If you think you can do a better job then apply for your own discs buy some buses & give it a go yourself.

I'm with the other view point on this - it's this attitude towards passengers that is exactly why people don't use bus.

The 877/878 timetable are in no way passenger friendly. Yes, it's a rural service, and if there's no desire for growth, then fine. But a timetable formatted like that with no other PR/marketing isn't going to do anything to encourage people on to the bus. Even keeping the existing timetable - a lot could be done to present the information more professionally and more legibly to anybody not accustomed to bus.

Select's buses are always very smartly turned out - they could work wonders if this was reflected in the presentation of passenger information across the board  :-)

There seemed to be a diversion on the 7/52 this evening, going via Snow Hill Queensway then round the roundabout at The Square. Then also saw a 24 going up Livery Street. Any ideas on why this was?

Can you please explain why your 16W that passed Old Snow Hill towards Birmingham Markets at around 1804 refused to let me board? Apparently it's only towards West Bromwich which is interesting as it's a timetabled service.......

I've always wondered - why is it that TfWM choose to replace the flags with OOU ones instead of just taking the flags down? - is it so they can use the stops on diversionary routes more easily? I know in some cases it's where they are only school route stops.

2742 on the 825 this afternoon. Think this is shown as withdrawn. Has it been reinstated?

Edit - just seen it being attached to a recovery truck at Queensville. Maybe not for long!

I don't think you can really expect me to answer that.  We all work really hard to make our bus services the best they can be.  We have a new manager at Cannock and he is getting stuck in to the job really well.  We are always looking at how we can do things better and how we can continue to be a profitable company.  We have some plans (as we always do) that are being worked up but I can't say more than that.

Does this also cover my earlier question regarding a possible diversion via Wildwood going from Wildwood Loop being on the new tickets? Understandable if you can't say anything due to it being commercially sensitive?

Noticed this afternoon on my ticket that it was valid to Wildwood loop. With this being programmed into the new machines, is it an indication of an intention to re-serve Wildwood estate now that the Select 73 has stopped? Perhaps with a loop round using the 74 for what must only add 5 minutes or so into the journey? It's quite a big estate to have now lost all coverage, particularly with the new estate that's being built on the site of the former police station as well.

If it's not a sign of any intention, do you think it's likely that it will see another Arriva service in the near future?

Presumably the X3 will now accept Your Staffordshire cards for journeys through to Lichfield?

Congestion really.  Signs to be updated asap.

Makes sense. Had a feeling this might be why - that row of stands is far busier now the 74/825/826/827 often layover there between workings.

Is there a particular reason the 9 has moved forward a stand from A2 to A3 at Stafford Gaol Square? Seems a shame after you've just done all the signage !
