Quote from: BBS on Yesterday at 12:58:22 AMThe Q&A suggested they cannot use the 730s on the SHL, but no mention of the 196It does mention bringing other stock in general though saying driver training would take time and also take drivers away from operating the existing services which is why the 196s can't be used immediately
Quote from: Mega Kickdown on March 29, 2025, 10:16:15 PMexplains why one cardiff e200 mmc had 3 new engines in 2 years haha, they are unreliable af over here how reliable are they in the west mids?None of what you are posting is correct.
fair enough though
the most recent reason for limp mode i heard was the filters and to ensure the bus stayed within euro 6 emissions requirements.
not rlly relevant to yardley wood so i shall stop mentioning abt cardiff before admin police get onto me
Quote from: Mega Kickdown on March 29, 2025, 09:43:27 PMcowboys would also generally ignore limp modeNot even a cowboy operator wants to buy a replacement engine.
does it move, yes so lets send it out!
Quote from: Mega Kickdown on March 29, 2025, 09:36:26 PMyea i do, but your definition is exactly correct. but some companies ignore it and wait for the breakdown before they fix itYou don't send a bus out of garage in limp mode.
Quote from: RobertJ21a on March 29, 2025, 03:09:09 PMI guess the query relates to the pvr of 3 versus Arriva having only 3 coaches - get a 4th coach or pay out some fines! It's the 'service' that has been classed as a coach service for the electric city, so still the same as now with a bus covering if need be. I don't know of any 'fines' for not using correct vehicles
Quote from: Coventrybususer95 on March 29, 2025, 11:38:30 AMWith coventry requiring all buses that run into the city to be zero emission by the end of the year will the x6 still use single deckers when there's no coaches available or will they use double deckersCoaches as now. It's a coach service, not a bus service, so is not included.
Quote from: B.C Driver on March 29, 2025, 11:27:11 AMIt seems a hell of a lot of time for these brand new buses to sit around without turning a wheel in serviceNot 12 months, but many buses have sat around for months before entering service. All the 19xx Scanias for YW & AG sat at Walsall for months. There used to be a huge yard at MCW full of fully built buses waiting for the operators to take them as they were required for service
Is it 12 months now? This would have been unheard of in recent years and further back
Quote from: Bob on March 29, 2025, 10:36:36 AMAre there any other train companies that travel New St to Derby so i don't have to use this woefully inadequate company? Every single time ive used them the overcrowding and under capacity is horrific. Trains are pretty minging tooNo
Quote from: j789 on March 29, 2025, 10:05:18 AMA 20 year old bus kept clean and maintained well can look far better than a 2 year old bus covered in grime. Take the Gemini deckers, they still look modern even today and most passengers wouldn't be able to tell that they are 20+ years old. Some of the New Bus for London (Borismasters) are 12 years old next year. TfL are still doing refurbishments on these, so the argument about old buses in big cities seems a bit strange. There's also 15 year old Enviro 200s running in London see this for an example SE26 - SN57DWO – Go Ahead London – bustimes.org
Also, your argument about buses being an attractive proposition versus the car doesn't make sense as, comparing today's passenger numbers to the 1980s they are far lower now despite passengers only having 'dirty diesels' to catch back then. No matter what bus is used modern or old, it will NEVER beat the car for convenience for most people these days. A whole fleet of brand new buses may attract a few new casual passengers but it certainly won't attract enough to justify the massive costs involved in buying new buses.
The fact that even in the regulated London market there are buses over 10 years old still being used shows that it is totally uneconomical in any area to only use new buses.
Quote from: Straightlines on March 29, 2025, 09:40:40 AMNot a comparable operating environment, you are comparing a market town and a city. The people are the same, they are travelling on a bus, on a road, but you reckon people of Mansfield deserve old buses, but those in Birmingham don't?
Quote from: Straightlines on March 29, 2025, 09:15:34 AMThink you need to double check who's spouting the usual nonsense, I think it is a fair observation that there aren't any big PLCs running buses from 2003-2004 in a large city comparable to Birmingham. Why are people more important in Birmingham than Mansfield for example?
Since we are all clearly so inferior to you, do enlighten us on your experience in transport engineering or maintenance.
Quote from: Mega Kickdown on March 28, 2025, 10:32:14 PMhttps://youtube.com/shorts/2OG-O3vt0YE?feature=sharedThere was nothing wrong with 4626's engine or gearbox, both have been reused and it was one of YW's most reliable tridents, just the chassis had rotted beyond economic repair
before anyone is sad about 4626 going, this is how it sounded like before withdrawal
