I seem to remember Walsall running a few DP nationals around this time too? can anyone confirm that?

Cannock garage doesnt make any money? Really? thats surprised me, surely routes like the 70 or the 1 or 25/26 make money?

They invested just as much in new vehicles, the trackline scheme invested heavily in new bus stations. publicly owned does not mean bad, look at Lothian buses! Nottingham city transport etc

Hmmmm yea i spose as Wardle had just bought the north staffs operations of D & G bringing in the similar fleet to Midland

The days when there was actually competition, now were left with shit private monopolies!! Another thing  to thank Maggie for!! is she dead yet? MRN was far better under public ownership as was WMPTE

hmmmm yea i spose & midland in my opinion have got a shitty fleet of old darts & solos so they cant be worth that much..
#6849
do you think rotala or midland would sell up?
#6850
maybe but chase was a very long established service and look what happened there, all the classic Nationals replaced with shitty awful old B6s/darts then the routes disappeared
#6851
does anyone think they will start more services? after all other than the 560 & 1 theres nothing left of the Chase routes they inherited, which is a shame and at 14 vehicles the new west brom operations are a bit piecemeal

who ran the cannock-longford-wolves service prior to 1980? ( the number 10)? as the bus stop outside the longford island shell garage said 'west midlands' but maybe one of their walsall services went that way?

Chase & Green bus werent the predominant operators btwn cannock bloxwich & walsall tho in 1991, nor btwn bloxwich & brum, it would have been WMT they were competing with :-)

Nope in the 80s it was Willowbrook bodied V reg Leopards coaches, DP olympians both in Midland Express livery and also old DP Marshall bodied leopards and occasionally standard Nationals. Rebodied East Lancs Tigers from the early 90s but at some point around that time it was renumbered 31 and rerouted down the A34. Anyone know exactly when it stopped going down the motorway the first time round? The A34 version finished around 1995/96 i think

THe 52 plate and onward darts with the ISBe engines are loads quieter than the earlier B series engines, i would imagine they would be better long distance. The X31 should have dual purpose seated buses it was always a coach years ago
