National Express West Midlands / Silly ideas
February 28, 2013, 09:39:43 PM
Things that come up in your head and you think "oh dear god I hope they dont do that"

For example:
North Birmingham Review
I (and possibly a few more / a lot more / no one else at all) suggested a) a better service for Rocky Lane, b) a link from Perry Barr to West Brom.
I get a horrible feeling we might see something like a "946" service, City centre - Perry Barr - Rocky Lane - Hamstead - Sandwell Hospital - West Brom....... and if we do I apologise, it sure as hell isn't what I meant

'Chances are Arriva will sell it'? But if its an unprofitable basket case whod want to buy it?

Diamond? hell, they might aswell, another Redditch all over

ah man, only just noticed this game, should have been paying attention more to where I've been photographed

I would say "bless him, hes only a kid" but then according to facebook he's 24..........

There must have been some call for more than one operator before, otherwise NX and TWM before wouldn't have operated the 950/1/2/3 and 351 for so long

Night buses is always a funny one.  For the main routes the first buses are running at 4/5 in the morning which is the perfect time for the clubbers leaving town.

You say that, if you're out clubbing on saturday night (the usual busy night for most places) you'd struggle for the first bus home, usually about 7 on a sunday morning

.... thats why i usually end up walking

I wonder what has caused the 146 to become a shadow of its former self.

At one point First were operating it every 20 minutes between Redditch and Birmingham, and it had a healthy peak and evening service too.

Over the years it just seems to have dwindled to a gesture really.  I'm sure it can't be too long before its gone all together.

The Train?

But the train service to Redditch hasnt changed since the 90s, still every half hour.

I reckon Diamond have got a fair chance of developing something with the 143/145/146 heading into the Birmingham area from Redditch and Bromsgrove

First / Re: After the takeover

I'd be intrigued to see what they do with the 143/145 routes.
They used to do the 145 when it was cotteridge - bromsgrove, then First took it back to run it longbridge - bromsgrove and occasionally on to redditch.

Rotala / Re: Diamonds problem

Something I hoped would come out of the network reviews (and to some extent it has happened) was the whole idea of creating new routes from scratch that diamond (or other companies) could develop as their own. Off the top of me head though, Diamond don't appear to have really taken anything and run with it

How did it manage to get away with being on the 51 for 10 hours, can understand it if it were covering for a journey for a breakdown, did Walsall have nothing left?

If it was on all day how the hell did I not see it?
#3641
Somehow can't imagine it working, as it goes a different route out of town (ring road) than into town (broad st)

Question: Does the 11 in Wolves have a usual bus? because on saturday I think I saw pretty much every type of bus WN own on there

B6LE out in force today at WN.
Couple more days yet before we get unusual workings posted, it hasn't really settled and they're everywhere.

saw them pretty much all over the place on saturday

Other Operators / Re: Yardley Travel 28Y
February 24, 2013, 10:34:02 PM
Every time I've seen a small operator start services on the 28 I always hope they'd make the most of it and run the full route to Scott Arms, always seen that as too good an opportunity to miss out on when NX stop half the buses short.
But then again there's always hope that that will be a thing of the past with the North Bham review
