Soho road certainly used to be busier before the metro

Strange though that the 115 still has clockface departures

Years back, I was getting the 951 back from school in Walsall and there was a crash on the walsall road just after scott arms, police were diverting everyone down through Hamstead and Rocky Lane but the driver asked if anyone knew a way to get through without missing any stops (he would have missed Tower Hill) so I told him to go down Calshot Rd and up Booths farm...
...annoying really conidering I could have let him follow the police advice and get dropped off on Rocky Lane, much closer to my house

BBC Radio 4's Today programme reported that from April 1, Northern Rail is replacing train numbers with barcodes that trainspotters can photograph and then upload to the web via their smartphones.

The barcodes are specially elongated so that trainspotters can snap them as the train speeds past, and also means they can help inform commuters about whether the trains are running on time.

However, pop impresario and keen trainspotter Pete Waterman is leading the charge against the barcodes, saying: "It's not the same thing. It's like email – you can't beat meeting people."

....from April 1st....  :D :D :D

Yeah I was wondering going on the responses whether people actually realised

National Express West Midlands / Re: NX Hybrids

Something I've been wondering since the hybrids started at NXWM, the completely different colour scheme.... surely that is insanely confusing for some passengers? Granted, they are the staple bus on the 22/23 and more so on the 24 now, and in wolves on the 1, so would be very familiar. But on the occasional unusual working, such as has been reported on the 97 and apparently might happen on the 59, are people waiting at the bus stop with a NX pass or daysaver going to let it go past thinking it's a different company? Yes there's the logo on the front but most ordinary people will just look at the colour of what's coming at them (and when it turns out to be some small operator's un-liveried dart and they get told on boarding their pass isn't valid they look a bit baffled - it happens)

Actually this intrigues me, how are they doing too much mileage? Surely if they go to YW for the 50 and spend all day on there they'd end up doing a similar mileage, it may be shorter journeys but they'd end up doing more trips?

5 points for a spotter, 10 if they taking a pic, 15 for fleet numbers, 20 for spotting tony, 25 if tony taking a pic and 50 if you on the bus he photograths lol

I get loads of points then :)

What happens if you don't know what Tony looks like, and no i'm not going up to every inspector to ask if his name is Tony.

I would, and it would probably be followed by a quiet "woop" to myself "yeah, extra points"

My abiding memory of the 59 will be a month or so back when getting it in the evening, pulled up at the bus stop with two of the locals hanging out of a window they'd presumably just smashed in, suppose it at least cleared the smell of weed quickly, god help the hybrids if they do end up on there

No way of stopping the chavs & general scum sadly - not that I can instantly think of anyway

Well there is but apparently it's illegal.....

Well it also benefits people who want to get to the airport to make a plane during the night, since the trains stop running too.

only benefits people who live along the route in that sense then, plus I'm not sure how many flights are scheduled outside the times that normal service buses run

Ok, kind of in line with this thread and the GTA thread....
Beyond me, who would own up to pretending the various paths in their local park/estate are actually bus routes whenever you're walking through. I've pretty much spent most of me childhood creating (in my head) an entire network of routes around Perry Barr and Great Barr

Ever drawn up timetables and running boards for them? :)

Not for the routes around home, but I did for some of the routes I did around Uni (which may go some way to explain why I only got a 3rd)

I'm sure it'll appear on the 9 eventually
