To go back to the original topic just for a minute...

Although the 16 is my other local route (for either when I get bored of the Walsall Road, the train's cancelled or I fancy actually traveling by bus on a sunday instead of waiting forever for one) I genuinely would not say the 16 needs upgrading, it isnt really that much of a prestige route in my eyes.

I would definitely say the Bristol road should be upgraded, such a major route through the uni and to the major new developments in Longbridge etc, always busy in both directions I've found.
(It also needs night buses, but thats a different arguement that I'm never going to win)

Vx54mxy on 16,.

Do you mean 30934 'VX54 MSY'?

Must have been the one I saw in town this morning, saw the first livery and thought it was a bit lost, then saw 16 on the back and completely threw me

So the north Birmingham review has not a lot happening, and then 6 weeks later the 7 and 46 have a route change.... Logic?

Is it because it is diamond who ran it, and so for travelcard users the 238 / 289 was the only alternative.

Hit the nail on the head there I think, simply people prefer nx to others

Midland Metro / Re: Not a rail in sight!

Taking far too long for a short extension, if this was Manchester or Rotterdam (not entirely sure why I picked those two examples) we'd have a reasonable network by now

The "parliamentary" service is no more? So they've paid to formally close the route then?
Are they ever going to re-instate the direct Walsall-Wolves service?

I was on 350 107 it worked the 8:07 departure from Tame Bridge to Wolverhampton and is usually a class 350.

Until two weeks ago that was the train I got every morning to work (Hamstead to Aston)

Don't see why not, its technically speaking a "train" route so...

Branded 99 > 24 / 98 / X64

On the 24? Wow, ok that would have been interesting

Thing is though, I can kind of see the other side of the arguement. Personally I saw the old 238 as "the only route from west brom to merry hill" and for a fair few people the easiest way to make that journey without getting the train at some point. Now the 4M exists that has (rightly so if I'm honest) taken that custom away as it is a much quicker route and presumably even attracted more people away from their cars. What they need to do now is work out what to do with those sections left on the 289, be it a local service to Merry Hill, Blackheath or West Brom or even some completely different route like (for example) a direct route into Birmingham

Is the 66A now going to be Sutton Coldfield to Erdington? Then why not just call it the 111 again as it's basically the same route and will bear little or no resemblance to the 66?

Did wonder that at the time as well, makes no sense
