That's not exactly a dangerous piece of driving, you literally reverse on your PSV test, it's never an ideal situation to reverse in service, however by getting someone (even if its a member of the public) to watch your back can help reduce that risk. 

Also given the situation what else could the driver have done. 

On a side note I've no idea what people's obsession is with DDs been used on the 4 services. When I drove these route (admittedly before the joint timetable came into effect) the route was busy but frequent enough for single deck buses to be used, by rerouting the service you will reduce the link between sandwell and dudley and west brom/Oldbury which is usually a busy stop on the route.

Unless this diversion becomes permanent then deckers won't be used on the 4, and as someone that's drove the 4/4H in the past the stop at sandwell and dudley station, 9 times out of 10 you will have passengers so won't be popular re-routing it away

I'm not exaggerating, I seen it with my own eyes somthing was hanging onto the road or bus station layover bays, and the bus was sitting very low.

Air bag faulty? 
Suspension problem?

Could be anything, chasis don't just snap in half

If a seat belt is provided then the passengers should use it, same as on the rare instance of a seat belted bus being used on any service. However the likely hood of passengers actually using the seat belts is very unlikely. 

Well they need 1 spare in case 1 veichle breaks down or being Blakenall gets smashed

In theory if they already have coaches then they could use a coach as long as its PSVAR equipped (I.e wheelchair lift, LED display blinds etc).

First time I've heard of a service being diverted due to a Funeral service. Of the top of my head the 34, 37, 39, 69, 79 and 529 all run past Cemetries and They have never been diverted due to a funeral proccesions. The 34/37/39 Is Fallings Heath on Walsall Road, 69 is Willenhall Lawn Cemetery, the 79 passes Bilston Cemetery just off the Bilston Road and the 529 passes Bentley Cemetery.

Clearly you've never been to the 101 terminus, remember in covid the turning circle often got blocked due to funerals and the way people parked. 

1834 just came through oldbury when it should be on the 4, it's came through not in service, it was only 11 mins late too!

Could be any reason, the driver could of been out of hours or a passenger could of been sick on the bus and it needed to return to garage 

Wonder if NX  will do anything this Sunday as apparently there are issues with the Trains but there is a small matter of a Black Country Derby at The Hawthorns. The Wolves fans might be getting an escort by the Police but 20K West Brom fan will still be there. I wonder if NX will loan in any veichles to get fans back to West Brom or Brum and maybe help with Wolves fans getting back to Wolverhampton if there allowed to

No vehicles would need to be loaned as its a Sunday service, I would imagine less buses would be on the road so if they ran any specials then they should be spares in the garage. 

once upon a time (not giving details) i was with a driver on 2 occasions when they were the last bus of the night, "GUARANTEED" was one word used "LAST BUS MUST RUN" was also stated, he broke down with fuel starvation (Metrobus), change bus was brought out and on one occasion it was a Fleetline, which he said was allowed to refuse as it was a late night duty, control told him as its the last service of the night, it must run, so you cannot refuse the Fleetline, you should have heard the language (off radio)
a month later it happened again, this time he got a National 2.

The Moral is there is always a change bus available so Last Bus Should Always Run, a fact that seems to have gone by the way side now, the last 87 rarely runs now

Agreed I was always told the last bus of the night should run, indeed when I was a driver I've had instances when my bus has broken down or had windows smashed etc and I've had to have a replacement come out to run the last trip, however this is easier said than done due to the driver shortages these days

An unusual question about down grading bus stop infrastructure in the TfWM zone.

The simplest design is simply a flag on a post and no shelter.
Cheapest solution and proven. OK but when the weather turns nasty not good and no seats.

UPGRADING
If residents want a shelter there is guidance on the TfWM site. Fine, no problem with the process. There is also a cost.

DOWNGRADING and this is the question -
Probably an unusual situation but are there ever cases of bus shelters being taken away and replaced with just a simple flag on a post?  What could be the reason for a down grade?

It would give a cost saving but no weather protection, no seats, no RTI (if fitted), etc. The locals wouldn't be happy though. I guess there would be discussion with the bus operator, the locals and the council on this?

The 5 bus stop at the King's Road in kingstanding (near the junction with finchley Road) used to have a shelter and now just a pole. Not sure of the reason why but could be down to antisocial behaviour as groups of kids would hang around in the bus stops on the evenings. 

I don't have a problem with the grey livery, it's a good base for adding vinyls of any colour. It amazes me that you hear complaints about the 'It's Grey, so it must be awful' brigade but hardly any complaints (in comparison) about any of the liveries that had white as a base colour which let's face went grubby in no time at all.

Blackpool uses grey on their buses and that seems to be well liked. 

I believe the problem with the current NX livery is that it just seems a bit lazy and uninspired compared to the crimson livery and the platinum livery. In an ideal world NX would of carried on with the crimson livery for the electrics 

Better make sure hydrogens are not allocated to last journeys as NX would be bankrupt in a month.
