National Express West Midlands / Re: Buses To Find
August 28, 2024, 03:51:36 PM
As I understand, 1908 (BZL) has seen service these past few days but isn't tracking.

I was wondering whether anyone had times for it out of Coventry/whether it's still out.

Quote from: winston on August 03, 2024, 02:33:58 PMI believe the Citaro is the current favourite at present.
Just going off what I've heard (nothing technically official) - MB is a good contender; the eCitaro is very stylish, but (supposedly) the lack of customisation is a big red flag.

I'm hoping the BZL fare well. While I'm not the biggest fan of their design styling overall, I'm hoping they might feel a little less clinical than any Yutong I've had the pleasure of sampling.

That said, I don't suppose there'd be any scope for a GB Kite Electroliner demonstrator at any point? I don't think a sole demonstrator actually exists, so any trials would have to be loaned from another operator it seems (as per the Yutong).

Re: E252

Looks like it did a circuit of the Outer Circle to mark the launch of a new exhibit at the Library of Birmingham - hence appearing in those parts of the city today

Quote from: Gareth on June 12, 2024, 10:23:04 PMWhen a bus is named and subsequently withdrawn down the line, will the name transfer to a different vehicle, or is that it finished. Did 1834 get 4601's name? I  can't remember.
I guess this would be thought of by a few on here in the coming weeks when one in particular is definitely going. Also for your own bus Tony. You've had the honour given to you, but the geminis probably haven't got all that long left themselves.
1834 did indeed inherit 4601's name. As did 4780 when 4781 was withdrawn. Another instance - albeit not a withdrawal - was 6832 gaining the name off 4884.

I do think it varies by circumstance. Equally, there has been occasions where name plaques have not transferred onto other vehicles on withdrawal.

4810 also de-vaulted and stripped of ticket equipment. Undergoing MOT prep today, so should be presented some time this week.

Clocked E191 on charge in the workshop this afternoon; I make it five EVs on site now (including Coventry's E057!)

Quote from: wmacb13 on January 17, 2024, 12:52:34 PMAn electric was out and about on Handsworth Wood road this morning circa 08:30. Assume this was for driver familiarisation. No fleet branding or fleet number so unable to ID.
Most likely E165 or E170.
That'll be E165. E144 had been down here for driver training the past two days, but had left this morning.

E170 has been parked up for a while.

I've been reliably informed that E188 has had its vinyls applied today. Moreover, it also carries 'first responder' stickers (much like in London & Manchester) above the doors; I presume this'll be the standard on all EVs from here on.
