One thing I have not kept a record of is which Mercedes are actually refurbished. Has anyone got a list of which ones have had full retrims and which have just had repaints?

Saw 4731 heading down the All Saints Way and then past the Bus station at 14:10 today, any ideas where this was heading?
No idea, but it was soon back at PB as I have just checked tickets on it twice on the 46

It's usually a good way to spot an unmarked Police car

And you would know that because...? ;)

You see a lot when your a young driver in a lowered car! Also the extra aerials are another sign ;)

Ah, my car's white and has a BX prefix so that might explain why I've seen a few cars slow down as I've approached.
I do find it puzzling why all buses are BX now though. BU and BV were also common a while back, but the likes of BJ, BL and BP have turned out to be rarities.

It's not just round here though, Go North East used to have a bit of variation too, but recently every new bus has had a NK prefix.

Yeah i'd think twice if I saw a white car with a BX plate! Especially if it was an Astra, Insignia, 308, BMW 3 series or Audi A4!

Not Skodas then? which seems to be popular choice of WMP

I really hope diamond put up a fight on the 50 as the buses on there do well-there just aren't enough. I'd say 10 mid life buses, paint em yellow advertise returns and have timetables etc drive competitively and it would take off.

Peter123, based on current evidence I just don't think it will happen, I think they've missed the opportunity to TGB. Could even the 50 support 3 operators, two running every 10 mins & NX running every 4/5mins which would no doubt be increased further if Diamond also increased their frequencies to match TGB

The 16 does and i don't think that is as busy a route as the 50!

Fair point, it does at present, but if Tony's recent photo of to Solo's on it is anything to go by Diamond aren't doing that well on it

It took this picture on Saturday, The one on the right was on the 50, unfortunately the destination didn't show in the photo

4006 and 4017 are the Spectras that seem to break down the most (On the 59 at least).

502 is another one along with a few other PE B6's.

And te B5's are unreliable. They've broken down on the 59 no end of times with the last time being yesterday as 5413 suddenly appeared later in the day on the 59 in place of 5510 which was the bus originally was 5510.

B5s are not unreliable, they have not broken down 'loads of times'.

There is no way anyone other than the engineering staff will know the answer to the posted question, Certainly a passenger cannot answer that. Sometimes when people see buses parked up it can be for something as simple as a vomit that needs cleaning up, or a vandalised seat, just waiting for a man in a van to come and sort it out, nothing to do with bus reliability.

Two solos escaped last month, so there is no 'everything for scrap' rule like First

It's only the 5 x Solo's that have been sold on further used in a good while i.e. the 3 to Banga & the two last month.

Dundee sold on the ex Airbus/NX Airport Olympian / Royale + the 2 x Olympian / NC Palatine II originally ex CCS and B10B 1352 went to JP Coaches, their B10L's go for scrap as well, but many of those have never seen a full new coat of paint or an internal refurb

Surprised Banga didn't take advantage of any further Solos to modernise the rest of their fleet!

Banga bought another from NX after the first. They also have a Y-reg Solo, but I haven't seen it for months. Id it VOR?

And the other 4 to the same operator as the last two. Banga has 4 not 3, and the Y reg one was on the 530 on Saturday

I think it only appeared for the first time at YW today ;)

Definately out last week, I checked tickets on it on the 6 one day

TWM obviously knew of the 'fastness' of the lynx and used it in advertising. The 993/4 leaflets advertising them as 'fast and efficient vehicles'.

QN Lynx's used to shift along Quinton Expressway on the 19S when they were really opened up, especially if you had a driver running late who was flooring it....... Only problem with the Lynx was the internal rattles & the suspension didn't seem to absorb pot holes very well, a few times the rear wheels would bang and sound like they'd come through the floor

I actually had the rear axle come out of place on an AG Lynx on the 71 and had the pleasure of a ride in a tow truck while the Lynx had a backwards suspend tow back

Was that from hitting a deep pot hole? Or just a failure?

Not exactly sure, it was just before AG lost them and the last few only tended to do peak work, so I deliberately did a one trip evening peak board to get a Lynx. Drove to Sutton OK, but it started crabbing on the way back, and clipping central reservation bollards, so I stopped and checked it and the offside wheel was further  back in the arch than the nearside wheel
