Quote from: JPC on November 26, 2022, 04:35:28 PMLooking at the details in the amended DVSA registrations it looks like the following NXC changes are on the cards,
As usual don't take the following as gospel or the full story...

1 - NXC will no longer operate.
3 - Warwickshire Shopping Park to University Hospital removed from route.
5/5B - Norman Place Road to Lythalls Lane/Everdon Road removed from route.
7 - Evenings and Sunday journeys between City and Brownshill Green removed.
19 - NXC will no longer operate.
20C - Foleshill to University Hospital removed from route.
31 - NXC will no longer operate.

Also amended timetables for 8/9, 14/14A and 17/17A ... TfWM hint a possible removal of Evening and Sunday journeys between Rail Station and Finham on service 9.

In less constrained times one would assume there is going to be a 'semi-orbital' type route put out to tender encompassing bits of the 1/5/20C/31 (?).
Just a waiting game now for all to be revealed.
I've heard that there is a new tender to replace the 1 combined with the northern section of the 5 from Coundon running back to the Arena apparently running every hour called the 15. The 20C I assume will just be left as is unless the 703 takes over a portion and I would assume the 31 is just being cut out as a result of the 3 to Hospital ending and the 703 following the portion of unserved route along Deedmore Road. As I say though, this is only what I've heard - we will have to wait for the official announcement.

On the 5s earlier (first bus was late according to my friend) and the amount of people that were confused as to what was going on was shocking - even for a Sunday. I can only imagine how bad the complaints and confusion will be from tomorrow after the 5B gets added into the mix and the 7A that would usually run is cut. Poor communication from National Express no notice at any bus stops no timetables changed and nbus passes not working at some stops similar to last years changes (which still haven't been resolved after multiple emails). On another note, the letters appended to the end of routes seem to now be in lowercase which I assume is to do with destinations now being done in house. Hopefully the only way is up from here and services can get better.

National Express Coventry / Re: Coventry Garage

I picked up a paper Coventry route map at Pool Meadow yesterday as they seem to be back, but upon review when i opened it up later yesterday evening, it said that routes 1 and 7A were not WMCA subsidised! I don't know if this is a mistake by TFWM but if those routes aren't subsidised then something must be going horribly wrong at NX if the 1 is running commercial (the 7A to be shortened to only the useful section from September).

Quote from: paulb1973 on July 27, 2022, 02:45:28 PMI work around Keresley Rd/Wallace Rd areas - and see the 5 on a regular basis. It seems, in general, to be running alright.

The 5B goes to the Cherry Tree Pub (Lythalls Lane) only - with the 5 doing occasional extensions to the Arena Shopping Park - is that correct? While the 5A is to Chapelfields (the old service 1 Westbury Rd terminus) via Coundon? Does the interworking with the 7/7A continue.

I believe that the 7A has finished down Coundon so the 5A can turn around opposite the Tescos at the old terminus for the 1 whilst the 5 is only going to the Cherry Tree and the 5B is going round the Everdon Estate then coming back into town. In recent weeks reliability has got better on the 5 - maybe they listened to my own and other people I know's complaints once and for all.

Quote from: JPC on July 26, 2022, 09:06:59 PMHowever it is improved to half-hourly up until Holbrook Lane where users can change to a service 3, this will offer more regular travel options for those who require the link between Coundon/Radford and Arena Park despite the required change of bus.
I can't see why they just wouldn't send it the couple of minutes down the road to the Arena or even down Arbury Road if they wanted to be quick about it. A lot of elderly people rely on that number 5 bus and some will probably think it is too much of a hassle to change buses at Holbrooks Lane and this cuts a further vital link that people may need to get to a supermarket. Not something that I didn't expect in the near future though - after they put the B7RLE vehicles on the 5 its been in decline ever since from a cross city route to every half hour down to every hour (if it ever arrived). I once waited nearly 2 hours for a service 5 a couple of months back just to find that none were running at all that day. Let's hope the buses can actually run more reliably once this change happens!

Was just looking through the bus registrations on the government website and saw that there were some changes for Coventry services for September. As it's the registrations this is only speculation but it says the 7A is going to be cut back to Belgrade Theatre - Bell Green (obviously a big loss for the 3 people who used to service as far as Coundon) and there is going to be new service 5B instated whilst the destination for the 5 registration has been changed to Chapelfields via Coundon. All of the other variations just state timetable changes so far but should be interesting to see what they do now with these changes - almost seems like we should make a national holiday out of this yearly occurrence!
