Quote from: BrumKev86 on March 14, 2024, 11:50:45 AMJust seen the video of this, obviously won't post it on here.  Queueing traffic on the inside and middle lanes of the A45 to the island. The bus lane which is the outside lane is clear, bus doing upto the speed limit, a car then decides to venture into the bus lane right in front of the bus, bus driver has no chance to brake.

I really hope nobody is seriously injured, but honestly nothing surprises me about the standard of driving not just in Birmingham but Small Heath in particular. Gotta be thousands without valid licences or disqualified, as there's no driving schools that would teach the standard of driving round there.
I agree with you, the standard of driving is sometimes absolutely shocking. But do let us remember that the majority of motorists do drive correctly, however the minority of idiots gives them all a bad reputation.

After witnessing a high speed collision on Stoney Lane last Friday morning, I actually get nervous while travelling on buses now - the amount of heart-stopping near misses I see is astounding.

Regarding this incident, I've just seen a video from Instagram that the Birmingham Mail posted. While you can't clearly see what happened, it would seem that someone thought it would be a good/clever idea to try and use the bus lane to beat the queue. What they obviously failed to do was use their mirrors, otherwise they would have seen the bus approaching.

As I've said on numerous occasions, it only takes one impatient idiot to cause an incident that then affects hundreds of others.

Bus lanes are there for a reason, keep out of them!

Quote from: BlackCountryBusSpotter on March 14, 2024, 01:08:06 PMJust an idea if there is enough demand to reopen Darlaston and Willenhall there must be enough demand for passengers to want to travel on the Walsall to Wolverhampton line so here is an idea.
The Journey time between Walsall and Wolverhampton is 15 minutes so why not at peak times run an every 15 minute service from Walsall to Wolverhampton
It is currently faster (and cheaper) to get the bus if travelling directly between Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Quote from: frostjay974 on March 13, 2024, 08:14:49 PMBy that logic, wouldn't the sensible decision be to just repaint the bus instead of frequently applying a new vinyl to it every few months especially for buses such as 4801 which I imagine that the only reason it gets vinyls applied to it is because most of the paint has been stripped away from it. It would save money given that they cost around the same and repaints last way longer
Advertisers pay good money for all-over wraps.

If they can be applied to vehicles due for a repaint, then that covers the subsequent cost of the respray.

Quote from: BlackCountryBusSpotter on March 11, 2024, 06:26:16 PMI know that but the E200 and E400 I heard are basically the same so if a Driver can drive the E200 they can drive the E400 so I thought the Omnilink would be the same as the Omnicity
OmniLink and OmniCity are different buses. There may be some physical similarities in the body shell design, but that's about it.

OmniCity is built on Scania's N-series chassis, while the OmniLink is built on the K-series.

Quote from: cardew on March 10, 2024, 08:12:17 PMOr being Euro6 could they see out their days at Walsall as cover for hydrogens?
Tony has previously stated that PB are having all their double-deck fleet replaced with new electrics, so there will be some Platinums and E400s that will be made use of. Probably unlikely that 5 vehicles of a type no other garage has operated would be deployed elsewhere.

It would depend on how long this hydrogen refuelling issue goes on for really.

Quote from: Steve3229vp on March 10, 2024, 05:49:37 PMWhat is more interesting is what will happen to the Scania double deckers ?

At 16 years old, they'll probably be scrapped, unless NX gets some kind of offer for them. I doubt they'd be transferred elsewhere.

Quote from: markcf83 on March 10, 2024, 05:04:27 PMHave PB operated any of the newer single deck Volvos before in number? I have no idea if they have......
No, to the best of my knowledge, PB, WB and YW are the only garages never to have had these. (And BY when it was open)

That may change in the near future though...

Quote from: BlackCountryBusSpotter on March 10, 2024, 10:43:30 AMAnyone what Steam Train passed through Yesterday I saw it about twenty to Six going down the Walsall to Wolverhampton Line near Bentley Road South as it was heading towards Wolverhampton as it was going under the Black Country Route as I crossed the Railway Bridge I was at the bottom of the road near to Bentley when I saw it. I have only ever seen 1 before in that location last year maybe. Edit appears to be a Train from Stratford Upon Avon to Manchester Victoria
I didn't see it myself, though I heard it from my garden!

When I checked on Signalbox.io, it was one of West Coast Railway's
https://westcoastrailways.co.uk/

I meant to go down to Yardley Wood station to try and see it on its return journey back to Manchester, but got busy with other stuff and forgot about it!
