4374 - 35
4382 - 6
4031 - 73

Hi John - I know you are currently used to London, where wo-betide an operator that uses the wrong vehicle type, but all those are actually quite normal at the moment

My first visit to Birmingham for many years today:
4374 - 35
4382 - 6
I like the new liveries too.

Ahh thankyou! I was wondering if there was at least a couple of DD boards on the 6, and I knew the 73 wasn't high frequency so 4031 would be fine, just nice to see it! Seen 4806 & 4812 too, very smart indeed.
4610 on the X64 sounds far from healthy!

Thanks Tony!
The Trident refurbs hadn't even crossed my mind!
It all makes sense now.
Hope you're well.

So YW has lost 4738-4762 to WB (minus 4759 which will go soon I'm sure) as well as 4799 to PB, and 4357-4359 to PE. In have come 6123-6148. So that's 26 in and 29 out. Doesn't seem fair?

But if all of 4738-4762 go in addition to 4799 and 4357-4359, that's 29 buses out and only 26 in. That was what I was meaning......

So I make it that YW has lost 19 E400s to WB, 4799 to PB and 4357 & 4359 to PE. That makes 22 vehicles out and 26 MMCs 6123-6148 in. So will 4738-4740 stay at YW now then or even 4741 as well to release 4358 which surely is destined for PE?

RIP 4341, one new to YW too. Shame, though at least it wasn't a engine fault this time. Hope they get the person/persons responsible.

Anyone know which Trident caught fire today outside Aldi in Sparkbrook?

I wonder what the chances are of YW obtaining 9 additional Scania Omnilinks to replace the B10Ls on the 27? I assume that would be the plan so as to standardise vehicle types, unless it's planned to convert the 6 back to double decks at some point?

Routes I miss from my childhood are:

15/16 Hamstead to Lea Hall/Garetts Green via City
90 Baldwins Lane to Pheasey via City
92 Monkspath to City

And a couple of NBC routes:
X4 Alder Valley Birmingham to High Wycombe
X50 Birmingham to Oxford

I always persuaded my dad to time our visit to the chippy to coincide with the 2010 departure of the X50 from the Bull Ring Bus Station to Oxford, always a VR.

Happy days!

A far cry from what there was in my day at WMT! WA used to have 10 buses dedicated to services S1-S10, I can't remember the school but we even had part-time drivers on these that did nowt else. The fuel pumps at WA used to full of buses at around 4pm!

All the 885s that AG used to do from KEHS to Solihull and they had an S91 School too I remember.

YW did lots of 894s from Blossomfield Schools as well as an 894A and a 895.

Are all of 4718-4732 at YW now? My records show 12 of the 15 have moved but I suspect I'm a bit out of date!

When YW Were down to their last Fleetline (the first time around) that was out on all day service too, usually the 6 or the S3. 6921 by the way!

What a memory!

After 16 years away from Brum, I tempted to come back to YW, I know it's not the job it used to be before someone says but I may give it a go, especially if they redo short ATM.

Various Stagecoach companies have, as have East Yorkshire, but generally low key this time it seems.
