A couple of changes I've often thought about are amending the 13/13A/13B

At present all services run from Warley into the city via Portland Road. I would amend the 13A and 13B so they follow the 12 from Bearwood into the city providing a more direct route into the city centre. (Similar to the old 258)

In turn I would then amend the 80A so that it follows Portland Road into the city maintaining the 10 minute stretch along that section of route.

You say more direct. I've had it plenty of times where I've been behind a 12 at the turn onto City Road and I've beaten that bus to The Ivy Bush.

Just an observation from the X8 platinums, I've noticed the next stop displays on board and the audio announcements no longer work when the bus is doing a " part route " journey to say Dudley or Blackheath. They used to work before the April display change / update and used to say the bus was terminating, all change please etc........It doesn't announce any stop at all either  :-\

Does this happen on other routes that are doing part journeys too ? i.e 87 to Oldbury for example ?

They work on other Part Routes at PN. As far as I'm aware, I've never had to use one, but when I've pressed the wrong button it has stated '126 to Broad Street'.

It seems they now have cctv/microphones by the ticket machine. 6828 has them. Otherwise it's some other contraption, I presume is to stop the driver waving people on when they don't have the correct change.

Eh? Rather confused by what you're on about

Well surely there could be worthwhile making it into a 7A and running it direct from Lye Cross to Stourbridge along the 9 route

Why? The 9 runs frequently along there? If passengers want a service to Stourbridge, the 9 is every 10 mins. From Dudley the 6 is every 10 or so mins.

Personally, I don't believe a '7A' would hold any more value than running to Wynall.

The 7 service on an evening will have journey's operating from Dudley to Wynall, only every other journey will fo to Wollaston Junction.

The point i was trying to make is that I doubt if many passengers will travel beyond Lye Cross, so why not terminate those journeys there instead of wasting time and money going to Wynall.

Because there would be too much dead time between journeys. We're getting 5 mins at Wynall. Which would've been 12-15 mins at Lye with no lay-by stop to wait at.

Several passengers do travel past Lye. But not enough to justify a half hourly service all the way to Wollaston

Another driver on Oldbury Rota said something very similar. He was late and usually on the 47XX's as open/close door situation is quite fast as well as pull off speed, he can bring it back on time if conditions allow, but with platinums he also gave up.

I've got no issue with the Platinums we have at Pensnett, having had them on the X10 and last night on the 126, I've personally not struggled for time at all. I find them quite quick in pulling away and getting upto speed. I don't find the stop start causing any issue at all.

They're used the same as the other short wheel base enviro 200s. They don't differentiate the 73* to the 75*.

The SWBs have been used on the 19 on Sundays a lot recently, possibly have one appear on the 7 aswell.
