The last people anyone asks about this are bus drivers or their representitives. These matters seem to be settled by common sense and reasonableness, but do any drivers on here have any views?

A long shot, but does anyone know anything about a miniature railway at Swalcliffe Oxon, about 5 miles from Banbury?  It can be seen from the road, but is probably private and has recently been relaid.

Passing through Stafford today, I noticed that some of the bus stop CIS screens were showing 'City Centre'. Had anyone else heard that Stafford had achieved city status? Must have missed that one...

It seems this has now closed and will not run this year

I hope this is the right place for this!

Why oh why are all SUNDAY journeys on X51 shown as 'School term only'?

Walsall Bus Station, 11.20 Sunday.  4714 VR, is waiting in Hatherton Rd, on its way to the Collectors' Fair at ARTM.  This person, dragging bag on wheels, runs through bus station shouting 'Out of my way, out of my way!'. As he headed for 4714 I assume he was some sort of enthusiast, but had he never heard of 'Excuse me please' and 'Thank you'?

General Discussion & Questions / West Coast Railways
November 24, 2015, 10:23:23 PM
I have seen a report that West Coast have had their operator's licence suspended after an incident at Doncaster in October.  Has anyone else heard anything?

Perhaps a little too general, even for here, but does anyone have any favourite mentions of buses in poems?

Ian Allan has died aged 93.  I know he was mainly associated with railways, but his company also published many bus related books over the years, and those of us of a certain age will remember the 'British Bus Fleets' serise of the 1960s and 70s.

Can anyone think of timetables that are so optimistic they are nearly impossible for a driver to keep to?
The 125 seems to assume no congestion in Kiddie, hence 10-15 minutes late in Bewdley and a mad dash to Bridgnorth. Exciting if not very comfortable!  Other route seem to be Hinkley Buses X44 from Rugby to Leicester and Bennets 491 from Stafford to Stone via Eccleshall.
Any more suggestions?

Marshall's of Nottinghamshire have this interactive map on their website  http://www.fleetmatics-uk.com/mapping/FleetTrack_View_GV3.asp

TFL have route by route interactive maps available too.  Will we ever see something similar in the West Midlands?  Or is there one hidden somewhere?

The Archive / Pink and purple Dart.

Today I saw a pink and purple Pointer Dart around West Brom. And no, I wasn't drunk!
It seemed to have a possible Sikh connection, does anyone know anymore?

Walsall WMT's E200 seem to have acquired a 'Built in Britain' sticker with Union flag design.

Meanwhile Arriva's have been fitted with a small 'stiffener'(?) on the emergency exit opening rod, which cuts down a lot of rattle and eliminates the  need for a folded up copy of the Metro jammed behind them!

In the village of Colwall, Herefordshire, one of the Malvern bound bus stops is seen here  http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2497/colwall_stone.html  (the second picture). It is in the middle of a road, with no shelter or raised curb, the 'flag' being the round sign seen from behind. DDA compliant it ain't, though buses are few and far between!

Also, around the former Midland Red area, there are many of the former BMMO concrete bus stops posts in use, though with new flags of course. Does any one know of any really obscure survivors?
Or any unusual bus stops?

Midland Metro / Observations 16/10/14
October 16, 2014, 01:23:10 PM
From a tram passing the depot I saw a refurbished T69 being loaded onto one of Alley's low loaders. Scrap or Long Marston?

And why is there no recomendation to change at The Crescent, given that the tram to bus stop distance is much less than Priestfield and there is a convenient pedestrian crossing? (Or should I keep this quiet?)

The Archive / 401E

Is the 401E the only 'E' route that does not have a 'normal' route number? (i.e there is no route 401)
