I have never thought about this before. Is this allowed? A passenger got on an NXC decker this week with a folding bike. Looked quite big to me and I think it fell over inside when the bus was going round a corner. What do the rules say?

Trains will be struggling. Wondered how the buses will get on. I reckon it is going to be a problem?

The river bridge is being rebuilt so 24/25 cant use Mill Hill and diverted for some months.
This is in Warwickshire so they have put a low height single temp stop (and opposite) on Howes Lane on the allotment side.

Trouble is the stop is sitting behind a road works sign and cant be seen from the road! The 'and opposite' notice is a plastic note that has got itself twisted around the temp stop and so can't be read for buses going in other direction.

Relies greatly on NXC bus driver local Warwickshire knowledge to call there and avoid some unhappy punters.

Not a good job by Warwickshire IMO.

NXC running a Sunday service both days
SC running a Saturday service both days.
Not sure how the 85 Cov - Rugby fits in with this as SC normally work it on Sunday?

Also some towns elsewhere  I hear are giving free rides both days?

Rotala / Coventry services
May 04, 2022, 09:51:39 PM
I think there are 2 Diamond services in Coventry at the mo.
42 Brownshill Green
89 Solihull / Meriden

Taking over the Johnsons 87 Solihull / Balsall Common this month bumps it up to 3.

Wonder if there are any plans to have another go at the X30.

This is worth looking at in full. Some big changes.

Bus fares have remained frozen for the last 3 years. Like everyone we have seen our costs increasing and from the 24th April it is necessary for us to introduce some changes to fares and ticketing across the region.

In some cases you won't notice a difference as the prices have been frozen, some have even gone down while others have gone up. Where increases have been necessary, we've kept them to a minimum to ensure bus travel still provides great value.

Singles & Returns
There are currently 44 different adult single fares in and around Warwickshire (plus 33 young person fares), and an equal number of different return fare values.
This will be reduced to six adult single fares and six young person single fares, with travel available for a single journey starting from £1.40 (adult), providing a clearer and more simple set of fares.

Return tickets will be removed, with customers making multiple trips able to achieve better value for money through our day ticket offering or for a small number of journeys two single fares.

However, we have kept a special return ticket, which is available between Leamington & University of Warwick at £4.50.

There will also be a special £2.20 single on route 48C which covers the whole route between Nuneaton and Coventry.

A section of A428 near Church Lawford will be closed from 24th February to 17th June, and route 86 will run a different way.

Buses between Long Lawford and Wolston will run via A4071, A45 and B4455.

Customers in Church Lawford can catch the bus at Long Lawford Back Lane, Wolston Rugby Rd or contact Warwickshire County Council on 01926 412929 for other options.

There will also be a new timetable from 26th February to help keep the service reliable during the diversion

A Routemaster group have put a vid on YouTube on getting spares for their buses from a Barnsley scrapper.

It is good to watch and pick out old buses from the West Mids.
In the yard I can see NXWM 4299
NXC 4677 I think
and at least two from Decourceys 861 and 862.

Anything else there?

At least six new bus stops being put up this morning at the new station interchange. It is further away from town than the old stops in Central Six. Hope buses will get priority as cars queue on Warwick Road?
From getting off the train it could be quicker now to walk into town?

I see that taxis still have a pick up right at the front of the station - doesn't seem right?

During the COP I think there are free buses?

One attendee could not get there yesterday as the shuttle bus was not suited for a wheelchair. I thought all buses had to take wheelchairs? Something not right here.

Had some rides on the exmoor open top coaster service from Minehead to Lynmouth on A39. First Bus 36082 SN57 DCE in use and it really has to work hard. Excellent professional staff. How long these buses will last before they wear out?

The route involves a 1 in 4 incline and descent on hairpin bends - bus leans over at a scary angle, narrow roads and then across the top of gale force exmoor. In places you are on the edge of a cliff with no barrier and a massive drop down to the sea. Runs till end of October and has to be the best open top ride in the SW if not all the country?

Question - is there anything similar in the West Mids that compares?

How many of these are there in the west mids?
This one at Dudley Zoo says it used to be at Alicante.

A general question on people numbers at bus stops. How good is the knoledge?
Is there data out there that counts bus stop users or tells you if a bus stop is well used or not?
Ive not heard of anything but who knows.

National Express Coventry / 585 fares
September 18, 2020, 12:36:44 PM
On the 585 does the NXC £4 day ticket cover a journey to Rugby and back?

History questions time. What year was Coventry promoting a Sprint service? IIRC one route was to Warwick Uni and another along the Foleshill Rd. Also what killed off the idea?
