3810 on 2's today and 3811 on 1 looking stupid with part branding saw no dafs on 1 when I was in Bloxwich must all be on pye greens as usual for the chadsmoor chavs

I think theres no need for them now at cannock because on the pyegreen we have the 36 range buses
.

Do you the x31 buses wil be good on the stafford route like the 74

Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: Discodave on September 10, 2012, 11:06:00 AM
they would be but I think some journeys interwork on the 825 as well as the 60 not sure if an omnilink can get under colwich bridge or if that fit across wheatmans bridge
Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: arrivaaston on September 10, 2012, 11:13:14 AM
no they dont, i noticed a sticker in the cab of 3810 saying not to be used on 825's, will not fit under colwich bridge

I got told the other day that they are trying yo get some deckers to do the 74 but they will have to chagen the route abit.

Thankyou for that they are not a standard in cannocks fleet so will go where other people have mentioned either Tamworth or even back to Derby from where they once was

see previous post on inter working plus you can here many rumours but the 74 does not really need to change mainly works with 75 and deckers could get around the route but again not required except certain journeys and Saturdays why the VDL buses are ample it does not justify the cost

Now theres no x31 the scanias arent really useful for cannock (imo) and i dont think arriva will gain anything by gettin double deckers for the 74's, its not as though the buses on there now are ancient and i thought these buses HAD to be used because dont cannock & stafford hospital sponsor these buses?

The 74/5 buses arent always on there they appear on any route from cannock

true, would fit in with my topic about cannock branded buses off routes, lately you can always garuntee at least 1 of these will be on Pye Greens

from comments in other subjects ive read, it would seem that 3812 (former x31 bus) has turned up at Oswestrys garrage, ive not seen 3810 for a couple of days but 3811 only half de branded seems to still be pottering about in cannock, think they are going back to Derby where they origonaly came from

According to other posts in the forum, 3810-12 'were' heading to Tamworth to join the rest of the batch.

The 30 Citaro's are replacing the 30 Volvo B6BLE's that are all going to the Midland garage on the takeover day.
I'm sure that Tamworth are taking on the 112 from Burton, so they may be needed for the 112 as well. I'm not sayign that they do need them, they might need them if Tamworth are taking on an extra route. It would also make sense to keep all of the Batch of OmniLink's together at one garage.

oh right, i thought 3810 had gone aswell because i hadnt seen that 1 about for 2 or 3 days, surely cannock could of kept these and used them on the 62 when arriva take it on

The 116 still runs into Birmingham, hourly I think. The 115 used to run to Birmingham but was cut to Tamworth-Coleshill.

really? u prefer the l113 series scania to the omnilinks?? Arriva Derbys omnicitys look nice, would there be much of a difference between the 35** and the 38**, obviously the engine and the lay out but like cab controls would there be much of a difference??
Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: andy on September 14, 2012, 10:42:32 PM
There is little difference...we had a couple of 35** Omnicities via Warks CC. I never really managed to find a difference to be honest, except the sound...the Omnicities had a slightly more muffled sound but control panel and driving wise, no difference except the driving position on an Omnicity is a tad lower for some reason. You can see that from the photos too.

I loved the 113 series Scanias when they weren't overheating, much quicker than anything else on offer. They are wasted rotting in Cannock yard to be honest but I think the floors may have gone in a couple, they needed welding work pretty frequently.

theres 3 or 4 in cannocks yard that i believe are from shrewsbury garrage, 3417's back at tamworth but not sure about 3416, its listed at being at cannock but i havent seen it in cannock for some time, do you think theres any chance these buses will come back or be converted to trainers??
Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: andy on September 14, 2012, 11:15:13 PM
I hope not, they're too good for that! 3418 and 3424 were the best, lovely buses to drive. The worst was 3421 closely followed by 3423, both very unreliable. The bus seated ones always seemed to be a bit quicker for some reason.  They knock spots off a lot of the rubbish that's still in service.
Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: Bob on September 15, 2012, 12:25:35 AM
DP ones were the best though the legroom on the bus seated ones was horrific
Title: Re: Scania Omnilink
Post by: arrivaaston on September 15, 2012, 12:30:56 AM
3423 is now that 'bus 4 life' and 3420 and 3421 are still sitting in cannock yard amongst others, the 2 n/xrc scanias arent bad buses considering their age

Couldnt't agree more, make the most of 3417 though because the mot runs out on 2nd of October, it'll be withdrawn then.

Post by: andy on September 15, 2012, 11:30:31 AM
Bob I knew you were going to talk about the legroom on the bus seated ones! There was a difference. It will be a shame when they are all withdrawn as they are good buses, I'm sure they will serve somebody for a few years yet.
