Looking at the picture of Solo 2515 posted on Friday I noticed the Versa leavibg Derby Bus Station behind it. It looks like 2945 YJ61CFM. I have 2945 as YJ61CFL. Previously reported 2943 to 2948 are given as YJ61CHL,CFM,CFL,CFK,CFG and CFF which is what Tony has on the Arriva Midlands section. Has there been a re-registration or fleet number change?
I photographed all the versas and was goin to put them all on this afternoon so will check then
Tony
Yes, 2944 & 2945 are registered the other way round to that recorded, now the question is have they swopped fleetnumbers, or swopped registrations?
Ay, there's the rub!
Just been by Arriva Derbys garrage and seen a few 'unusual' buses in the yard
2401
2391
3283 (Ex Arriva merseyside I think)
Unidentified R/TJW scania
Can anybody tell me what these buses are doing here and if there likely to be entering service?
Just dusted off this thread to announce the advance notice of VDL SB200/Wrightbus Pulsars 3767-9, according to the Derby Bus Depot site. These are due in June for service X38.

Won't these be for Burton garage, to use instead of 2985-7?

I hope so, Burton couldn't run a bath.
A new X38 timetable starts next week. Still 4 buses with Trent Barton working the 2 from the Derby end and Arriva the 2 from Burton end. At last they have accepted it isn't possible to do the round trip in an hour with no layovers and now it has been changed to an 80 minute round trip - a 35 minute journey and 5 minute layover each way.
"Derby Bus Depot" site has a new entry confirming that the new buses will be for Burton.
So what will happen to the versas? Are they being debranded or moving elsewhere?

As Burton already have some Versas they might stay and replace Darts, or they might leave and replace older buses at another garage that have Versas already
Wonder if the sb200 will have high backed seats/leather or whether theyll just be standard
Maybe replace darts wich will end up at wednesfield or cannock, although cannock have already had a hanful of darts lately
Noooooo we dont want no more of the bloody crappy things

Can't see that happening.
Maybe ideal to telfors/shrewsbury or bridgnorth with the others
I can imagine the'll stay where they are.
I've noticed the 11 plate versas at Burton are coming off route abit now, seem to be a regular on 428

Burton have 3769 (new spare - in normal livery) in use on the X38. 3767-8 are being branded.
Are they standard bus versions or high backed seats/leather like trent barton?
Didn't notice anything special but wasn't looking inside. May be through Burton again on Friday on one of my Lichfield-Burton-Derby-Chesterfield jaunts and will check thoroughly if I am.
Here is 3768 parked in Derby garage
http://www.flickr.com/photos/55432463@N08/9067774273/
It looks to have high backed seats but can not be sure.
Also, is the X38 still ran by Burton, or is it ran by Derby, as I read it was going to Derby on the forum
Arriva runs the Burton end and Trent Barton the Derby end - two buses each which follow each other in pairs.
"Derby Bus Depot" enthusiast site was originally misunderstood - they have news from the whole of Derbyshire and beyond.

On the same Flickr site, the X38 Pulsars have now received branding, and have leather seats, and it is still operated from Burton garage
Burton had branded 2985 still working the X38 today, together with new unbranded spare 3769, which does indeed have nice leather seats.
For some reason Trent Barton (who are usually good at it) have not been using branded buses on the route lately.
Today branded 3767 and 3768 were working the X38 and unbranded spare 3769 was on the 9. The three previous X38 buses are still working from Burton. Nicely unbranded 2985 and 2986 were on the 8 and 3 respectively whilst unbranded former spare 2987 was on the 7. Cheers, Patrick.

Not anymore, Burton are keeping them from what I've heard.

Arriva North West already have a number of these Presidents in service, so are they destined there instead. It would be nice to have 2 in the Midlands

The Alx400's we had off Wednesfield and Wardles aren't too bad and are much better than the early DAF Lowlanders, if anything the S*** JUA ones should go as they're awful.
Whats the difference between the s-jua ones and any other ones they're exactly tge same bus with at most a couple of years difference?
The S*** JUA ones aren't that great as they are unreliable, the bells don't work on some and because of the staircase location they feel very cramped.
The ones we've had from Wednesfield and Wardles are quite nice and feel more spacious and have better seating.
The bells on wednesfield's w regs dont work theyre full of dead ones. Nx's alx tridents are much better buses

Wednesfield for the 10, 19, 334? So they can send the DAF deckers off somewhere else.
The 334 has been axed, and the 19 only runs walsall to bloxwich and only needs mpds...
Personally i would send the B9TL's (From either Tamworth or Derby) and upgrade the 74/5 (Maybe put them ito a special branding for both routes?). This could shift the Pulsars off the 74/5 onto other routes to replace older darts/Volvo B10BLE's.
It wouldn't be much of an upgrade though they're only about 6months newer than the existing pulsars

Its got overcrowded at peak times for years and they haven't done nothing about it lol? They preferred to put deckers on wednesfield routes that werent as busy as the staffords. Deckers wont go on there id put money on it lol
Although it'd be awesome to see them back on staffords again :)
The Tamworth deckers and possibly the Derby deckers are heading to South Wigston to replace Lowlanders which are headin to Arriva Cymru
South Wigston have the 10 Enviro400's for the 47/48 which are apparently to replace the earlier DAF Lowlanders and the four VLW's at Derby are rumoured to be coming this way for the 84/85 Breeze routes to join the rest of the VLW's on them.

What a shock.
Ms Bell didn't even feel the need to attend and sent her deputy. The result? A formal warning and instructions to demonstrate recommended improvements on frequency of safety checks and a small increase in spare allocations and driver training.
Exactly what it was always going to be for a minor and pretty isolated repeat offence.
Typicl frothy mouthed local press nonsense.
Fair enough a minor offence. But do you not think its a bit complacent tjat they don't even respond to a formal complaint? People have complained about this happening on the fb page on several occasions.

Yes they failed to tick the box by sending out a standard copy and paste letter that you would normally receive from a train or bus operator just to satisfy the demands placed on them by Passenger Focus etc.
If other passengers reported incidents like this directly to the Traffic Commissioner like this ONE passenger in Derby did, far more operators would be in this position. The fact is that most passengers don't even know what a Traffic Commissioner is let alone how to complain to VOSA.

I was in Sinfin today but on route 38 there was no sign of 4600 - or 4401 or 4407. The timetable seems to require 8 buses, which is what I saw when Sapphire started, but there were only 7 on late morning - one of which was 4222.

4A was withdrawn recently, perhaps this accounts for a drop in PVR? They have changed the 7 (?) I think as well to not serve the bus station so that might save a bus possibly?

Buslistsontheweb.com shows first owner, not necessarily the current one. Wright may have sold the vehicles in question to Arriva
I realise that buslistsontheweb only covers the first owner but normally Arriva and the other big players buy in batches not single vehicles hence my query about loan.

Poor Derby. I honestly dont know why Arriva keep buying these heaps. They're generally regarded as awful by a lot of drivers/passengers. Cheap and fuel economy maybe? At the expense of quality and comfort.

It's all about bottoms on seats I guess so the cost-effectiveness most likely is a factor. One of the reasons I can't see the Volvo B8RLE picking up with many major operators as a replacement for B7s and SB200s.

Are the new Streetlites in service in Derby yet? I see they were officially launched last Thursday 31st January.
They are, but still sharing the 8/9 with Solos - this doesn't use the bus station.
Thanks for the update. However I can be more specific as I went to Derby today. I saw 2329-34/6/7. 4 were on the 7 - entire allocation - and 4 were on the 8/9 along with two Solos. From the Arriva website I see that they are also destined for the 5 which was all Solo today.
So they will require 17 for pvr, 7 on the 5, 4 on the 7 and 6 on the 8/9. As you say none of these routes serve the Bus Station, routes 5 and 7 along with the 4 start from Babington Lane/St Peter Street and the 8/9 from Albert Street at the top end of Morledge.
Interesting that the 8 vehicles on the 38 Sapphire were 4400-6 and 4545 ex-Leicester, still in Sapphire, not the Notts Uni livery No sign of 4600. Is that still at Derby?
Is it just the Solos that are supposedly leaving Derby?
Have read elsewhere that 4600 is due to go to Tamworth in exchange for 4200.
Just graphed new Streetlite 2342 SN68AGP on the 8, seems like more have now entered service.
2506 YJ58 CCD is currently parked at Oswestry, understood undergoing MoT prep before been allocated to Shrewsbury.

And apparently Trentbarton's new timetable will start a week before it's actually registered to start, so for the first week Trentbarton will run buses to the new timetable for free (while their sister company Notts+Derby will run the original timetable for the final week).
I would say that this is the toughest competition in the area I've seen since the days of Yourbus.

Bus partnerships are only any good if they apply to the whole of the area and not just within an arbitrarily drawn part of an area which hasn't been updated in several decades and which does not account for a large chunk of the extended urban area in which many journeys originate (as in Leicester where some passengers on the affected routes now have to buy two tickets to cover their journeys where the connecting leg is on the operator that has withdrawn its service given there is no combined ticketing outside of the outdated, illogical and unfair boundary which is a substantially different distance from the city centre depending on which direction you are heading).

Correct.. they do..
But have you noticed they don't allow Narborough or Enderby into this.. yet they allow a much further away area such as Desford, or Countesthorpe for example.
I think this is more the case the person above was highlighting.
I've asked (but with no luck anywhere)... why there isn't a "county" flexi area (like in Devon). There could easily be one even in a East Midlands area?

Yes, Leicestershire (and other wider counties) desperately need something like this - perhaps nationwide, even, like in Germany.
