Title: SignalBox.io - BusTimes-style tracking for trains!
Post by: Stu on September 30, 2023, 03:46:11 PM
Have not seen this mentioned before here, but came across this yesterday evening from the Transport For Wales Rail website.

SignalBox is a technology company that was acquired by TheTrainline.com in July 2023, and amongst other things their software "detects, tracks & maps trains"

A generic version covering all train operators can be used at
https://www.map.signalbox.io

Avanti West Coast have their own branded version at:
https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/live-train-status/signalbox

And Transport For Wales have theirs here:
https://tfw.signalbox.io/

Anyone else come across this before?

I tried it out a couple of weeks ago, but it was a bit frustrating in the coverage desert of parts of deepest Pembrokeshire. Real Time Trains - which I assume uses the same feed anyway - was less troublesome, probably because of having no graphics. Nice idea though.

It's new to me, and it's very interesting.  Another useful thing to help find out where my train's got to!

Is it me or does there seem to be random journeys not following what I know to be railway lines locally?
