Title: From 24th July later buses
Post by: B.C Driver on July 08, 2022, 12:46:29 PM
Quite a few routes will have later buses from 24th July

For example last 7 will be 01:07 instead of 00:07,

Last 14 will be 01:07, buses around 1am for 16, X22, 101 amongst others.

Does anybody know if this is linked to the Commonwealth games or is it just a plan to create later buses?

It's the X21 running later, not the X22.

It is a good question though. I had wondered myself why they've been implemented.

It's possible there is a link to the Commonwealth Games, though I'm not sure any events will run that late into the evening anyway.

I think its more likely that there has just been a demand identified for later running journeys, due to perhaps more people enjoying nights out in the city centre, who'd rather not pay exhorbitant taxi fares.

There's no events running that late, but I know that many volunteer shifts that finish at 11.30pm. I see many of them moaning on Facebook that they've accepted all these shifts and now complain they can't get home from some of the venues because there's no buses home.

X2 has a new departure at 01:25 to Solihull Station seemingly coming in off the 00:20 X1 from Coventry., X12 a 01:00 to Chelmsley Wood coming in off the 23:41 X12 from Solihull Station.
Not sure where the X21 01:10 and 94 01:15 come from though unless they layover for 50 minutes, or come dead from somewhere else.

I guess they'll go back to the garage? Doesn't the night bus on the 97 do something similar (although the gap between the 1:50 and 3:10 departure is a little larger).

The night bus boards have a long day staying out into the early evening. The tracking says the X1 layed over at Markets and 97 Park Street early this morning. 97 arrives 02:25 leaves 03:10.

Yeah, there is a 97 run that starts doing the 0110 from Birmingham, does the return trip and heads back to the depot, or sometimes just parks up at the terminus and then runs the 0310 services.
