I'm wondering whether we're going to see the start of some blue to red repaints. Presumably a lot of changes are due to reduced vehicle requirements to match Covid rule changes etc?

Thanks Tony. Not sure if you are able to say, but will the B7s also be replaced in the next 12 months by the 130 electric double deckers?

I'm also presuming the X1 will need to be electrics.

The only reason I asked about the Platinums was the route distance and whether electrics would be acceptable - from your reply, I'm presuming the answer is yes!

im thinking of making the 4/4A a platinum route using the ex 11/12A e400mmcs. Its just my opinion before someone starts on me
4/4A need platinums and E200mmcs maybe used on single deck routes slowly replacing older single deckers for example omnilinks when their time comes to go.

Do those E200MMCs have stop start? I remember seeing a video of one which looked to have stop start (although the video was published a few years ago now), but when I've been on one, the engine stays on.

Wasnt it just 2201 and 2202 that had that feature? Or did I misremember that?

On that list - only 871
874 has replaced it in paint which is the only other one.

The deckers are there for touch up after RTC repairs

For sure 871 couldn't claim to have the 'wow' factor appearing in its 'new' livery. Going to take more than a vertical blue stripe to be able to make that claim.

So the B7's are too? Don't exactly think their seats would be as worn out as the MMC's.

Quite a lot actually, plenty of Tridents that got repainted into red/white back in late 2014/early 2015 never got one at all and still had their original interiors. The likes of 4370, 4550 and 4588 still have their original seats as well a nice mix/match of other moquette.

Is there any hope E400 repaints may start again anytime soon?

so, not for 8 years.

Of course E400 repaints will start as soon as the new booth is fitted at Walsall. It will also be able to tajke 15m coaches.

Tony, I've probably missed a post somewhere but what's the position regarding the 'new' grey livery with red/blue stripe that's being talked about on here?  Are all repaints coming out of Walsall in that livery or only certain vehicles? Is the 'platinum' livery being abandoned and all vehicles will appear in grey in future?

Ok I admit defeat. I've never known a previous occassion when a 'new' bus livery, even if it is a trial livery,  has been seen in public but no one appears to know anything about it or is reluctant to talk about it. Presumably time will shed some light on the subject one way or the other.

QuoteOk I admit defeat. I've never known a previous occassion when a 'new' bus livery, even if it is a trial livery,  has been seen in public but no one appears to know anything about it or is reluctant to talk about it. Presumably time will shed some light on the subject one way or the other.
Not sure what the problem is, I post every couple of weeks what is in paint

And it is welcome information. I'm trying to understand whether a new livery is being applied along the lines of a recent photo of a vehicle in an all grey livery with a blue stripe or was that a one off for some reason?

Will the new electrics for Coventry carry this livery? Or is it just diesel vehicle repaints that will carry it?

Tony has already said they will.

I think we can deduce so far:-

1) E200s being repainted for Coventry will carry it - presumably these will be staying in Coventry for a while after all the electrics arrive - and if they are to be cascaded subsequently, repaint will simply be a new stripe
2) B7RLEs for Wolverhampton being repainted currently will carry it (but with red stripe) (2001,2002)
3) 2206 currently in for repaint will carry it (with red stripe)
4) Omnilinks continue to be repainted in crimson.

I'm presuming there's some reason why the new livery can't be 'announced' on here - probably some official launch (possibly of the new electric fleet at Coventry).

Is it possible those vehicles being repainted might be candidates for retro fitting as electric vehicles? Just a guess.

Thanks.
So no more new vehicles in the existing platinum spec livery then.

Vehicles going grey are those likely to still be in use in 2025. New buses will be in a slight variation of this livery

So have about 50 other buses. I haven't got time to help with each one individually. It is off the road in its home garage like all others that I don't put on here when I do the list.

I'm assuming 4778 is only in for RTC partial repaint ?

Yes, a car came straight through a red light into the front of it so it has needed all new front panels. One thing with these Scanias is they have a very solid chassis behind the front panels so anything that hits them normally comes off much worse!

Loads of people seem to be jumping red lights at the moment, shame the car came off much worst....
