With Diamonds 202 being withdrawn and replaced by the 44, only to later be reinstated, are there any other examples in the West Midlands.
Off the top of my head I can think of the 61, replaced with the X61 and then reinstated.
What other examples are there?
The 52 then into the 952, then 52/52A, then back to the 952 and then back to 52 (now doing the former 46 route).
I can think of the attempt to 'rejig' the Walsall to Bloxwich set of routes in 1993/1994.
One of the Mark Fitchew blogs mentions it in detail.
The 30 in Acocks Green was withdrawn after the first Solihull review, and replaced by the S3 (Acocks Green to Dorridge/Hockley Heath).
When NX withdrew from the S2 and S3 services, which passed to Diamond, the 30 was reinstated.
(The 30 of course later passed to Diamond, and is now the A12)
Going back a while...
The old WMPTE 48 (Frankley/Cotteridge version) was withdrawn at deregulation but then made a comeback a few months later with WMT.
Not quite withdrawn but re-renumbered - the 27 being replaced by the 35 for a few years in the mid/late 90s before making a comeback. Also the 44 being replaced by the x-city 46 for a while before reinstatement.
The Diamond 56 having some trips renumbered to X56 (running the same route, just fast to Perry Barr). They ended revising it back to how it was

And before the 30, it was an extended 71 from Sutton Coldfield to Acocks Green via Solihull (what a route). And before that, it was the 672, right?

No, It was a 38 which was Acocks to Solihull via the 30/71, then to Dorridge via Copt Heath and Knowle.
The 38 was introduced in 1990 and replaced minibus services A (Acocks Green to Solihull via Olton and Streetsbrook Road) and K (Solihull and Dorridge) also replacing peak service 181 which ran as the 30 is now.

Ah yes, I did think it was one of the Dorridge/Knowle buses, but then had a brain fart and pulled 672 up for some reason.
NXWM did essentially pull out of the Dorridge/Knowle corridor in the end. I always thought the 38 was well used.

The long withdrawn 345 from walsall to cannock was reiintroduced and that time but this time with a 349 both operating as a ( very) long clockwise and anti clockwise circular

The first chance of a Pte/Twm service for several years between Bloxwich & Brownhills, albeit the long way round via Cannock & Norton!
Would the 951 count, service reduced to peaks but Cannock-Walsall section was withdrawn[replaced by 351], renumbered X51 reintroduced Monday to Saturday, & operates on Sundays, [i may be wrong, i don't think the 951 ever operated on Sundays], X51 had a couple of peak journeys to Bloxwich/Cannock, now half the service runs through to Cannock Mondays to Saturdays.

To be fair, Nx never came completely off the route, due to those Cannock peak journeys.
Another one that's come to mind is the Your Bus 54y. Withdrawn in December 2000 but then reappearing (operated by Pete's Travel) in November 2001, it didn't do very well with its original half hour frequency reduced to hourly the following January before disappearing altogether in March.
Service 995 Birmingham-Kingstanding-Brownhills West run down to peaks only in February 2002. PETES Travel take over make it a successful 30 minute service with Arrivas 156. Becoming route 56 every 30 minutes.
In October 2015 diamond give up on 56 taken over by nxwm successful 937.

I know this is unrelated, but do you know anything about the 158 withdrawn circa 2009/2010? I'm sure it was all stops from City but I'm unsure what replaced it, 56 rings bells?
The 158 was withdrawn September 2006 by a very short lived 958 which ran from Bloxwich, pelsall Fingerpost then direct to Brownhills via Lichfield Road. It then followed 995 route to Birmingham all stops to Kingstanding then 995 stops. The 958 also replaced the 995 journeys. The 958 lasted until January 2007 replaced by a new variation 997B which followed the original 158 from Bloxwich to Aldridge then 997 to Birmingham.

158 all stops Bloxwich to Kingstanding Circle then limited stop as 995 996
Kingstanding Circle
Hawthorn Road
Church Road, College Road to City To Bloxwich Boars Head
Wellhead Lane
Perry Barr Rail (To City) One Stop (To Kingstanding)
Newtown Barton Arms
Miller Street
Argos Priory Queensway
Birmingham Carrs Lane
Brownhills West to Aldridge was replaced by a new variation 997A which was 995 route to Aldridge then 997 route to Birmingham.
These 997 variation routes lasted until April 2010 then Withdrawn.
The 997 rerouted between Walsall and Aldridge via Daw End Lane instead of the long serving Barns Lane. A new Service 935A introduced Peak times only from Rushall via Barns Lane to Aldridge as a partial replacement for 997. It then followed Portland Road, Erdington Road to Foley Arms then followed 935 route to City. The Current 935A via Barns Lane lasted until late 2012 when a tendered night service to Brownhills West was introduced numbered 935A replacing Diamond 56A.
Barns Lane no longer served
The 935A was later Renumbered 937A.

I seem to recall a lot of moaning locally about the loss of the 158 at the time.
Wasn't people going down to Rushall, then catching the then revamped 997?
I thought the 997B went a bit before the 997A because it went to PB at one point. And there was the 46X running through Beeches this went in 2010, AMPM ran it. Was a strange route though.

The original 997A & 997B went April 2010 Walsall network review.
Forgot about PB 997A introduced April 2010 providing a 10 minutes service Birmingham Pheasey then continuing to Kingstanding circle replacing some of 934. WA could be seen on this service in Peak hours and PB could be seen IN Walsall on the 997. This lasted until September 2010 when 997A was replaced by 997E to Pheasey Church and all. Operations passed to PB.
The 997 has a complicated history has many route changes and Variations bit like 66 & 66A changed so many times.

Yes the biggest complaints was the new 958 never served Pelsall Village. The 958 only lasted 4 months SEPTEMBER 2006 - January 2007 then was replaced by new 997B serving Pelsall Village and connecting Birmingham again.

As far as Staffordshire is concerned, I can think of a few routes that were withdrawn and reinstated
61 Cannock - Lichfield Via Boney Hay, withdrawn by Arriva in 2019 and reinstated by D&G between Sankeys Corner and Lichfield only (which is now being withdrawn again)
62 Cannock - Lichfield Via Hazleslade, curtailed to only go as far as Sankeys Corner by Arriva back in 2019, D&G extended it to Lichfield back in June along the same route as before
23/23A Cannock - Wimblebury - Hednesford, route withdrawn back in 2015, In June it was reinstated
There's probably loads more in Staffordshire

You could say that the X14 was a reinstated version of the 12, except not serving Penkridge.
It's no surprise that the X14 is being withdrawn. I think, had they have served the villages just off the A5 (Tong Norton, Bishop's Wood, Brewood) providing these with a link to services in Telford, the route may have survived.

I agree that it's no surprise that the route is being withdrawn, though not convinced that a meandering route via the villages would've made a great difference. If you look at the area, the majority is car owning country and little has changed in that respect. Only Warstone Motors/Green Bus Service have had success in this regard with the shopper specials running 2/3 times a week at certain times of the year.
When I joined Midland Choice, the then owner wanted a network of Telford (Midland Red North type) routes, one being a Cannock link but opted for the Walsall-Mossley 171 instead because of this uncertainty. As I've said before, no one can accuse Chaserider of not trialling these semi-rural routes and ideas - some worked, others, like X14, haven't.
The old YW 48 (Frankley to Cotteridge/Solihull) withdrawn at deregulation but was reinstated a few months later and lasted another 20+ years!
WA 8 Walsall- Pelsall - Clayhanger - Brownhills Withdrawn around 2007 as service 362.
395 provided a link via Lichfield Road Brownhills - Pelsall link Clayhanger not served by WMT. 395 Withdrawn April 2010.
Pelsall- Brownhills link Reinstated daytime April 2019.

I'm pretty sure the 12 served the villages then went direct to twlford via the M54
