With half of Coventry's Dennis Tridents from the 4203 - 4224 batch now withdrawn (a couple due to fire damage !), this leaves just 11 of that particular batch left in service now (4209, 4210, 4211, 4212, 4217, 4218, 4219, 4220, 4221, 4222 & 4223), plus the two transfers as well (4144 & 4190). Most of them must have been in the Garage today, as all i saw out on the road this afternoon were: 4211 (4), 4212 (16), 4217 (16), 4218 (4) and 4219 (18). I did see 4190 in the yard at Wheatley Street, but it was being driven down and into the Garage by a Mechanic ! Withdrawn 4207 and burnt out 4203 are still standing outside in the yard, up at the Swanswell end of the Garage.
It's always nice to see any of these 17 year old Tridents out on the road (still earning their keep !) and if possible, to go for a trip on them as well while i've still got a chance to ??? (And taking plenty of photo's of them in the process !!!lol).

"Oh No", i didn't know about that one now being withdrawn ??? ("THANK YOU" Tony for letting me know, as i appreciate that !).
I've got 4209 as withdrawn also. So just 4190/4210-12/17-23 I think left.
I must admit Paul, that i haven't seen 4209 around for awhile now ? Hopefully it's just in the Garage waiting to be repaired (or is currently in the process of being repaired ?), but you've certainly got me wondering about it now ???

You missed 4212 on the 16 all day
Had to go over to Birmingham and back twice today, so i was only in Coventry City Centre for just under an hour at most ? Sadly i never got to see 4212 today and what makes not seeing it even worse is, that it was on my route as well !!! ("DAMN IT" !!!lol). Thanks though Tony for letting me know about that one !!!!!
Just seen 4219 on the 16A to KERESLEY VILLAGE and it had a lovely little tribute to Armistice Day along the bottom of its Destination Display, which read: "THANK YOU 100". I quickly took a couple of photo's of it, so hopefully one (or even both ?) will turn out OK ?lol. (Seen quite a few Buses running 'round with this Armistice Day tribute on them, which i think is really nice and a very fitting and respectful thing for National Express to do !).
Saw 4217 out on the 16 route yesterday, so it's nice to see the old Tridents still running for whatever time they've got left on the road ?

Don't think Tony has listed 4210 as withdrawn (yet) but it's looking rather redundant!
seen a pic on flikr today of 4212 passing through bham town centre can only assume it was on way to miller st
Just seen a picture on Facebook regarding 4212 yes it's at Miller street
4223 also withdrawn but not at Miller street yet parked up somewhere inside depot

Of the seven remaining "Y" reg Tridents still in service here in Coventry, i saw six out on the road today and managed to go for a ride out on them all to. (Possibly for the last time, but hopefully not ?). Anyway, here's what was out:
4190 - 18A
4211 - 6
4217 - 16
4218 - 4
4220 - 16

Sounds like either 4219/22 has been withdrawn recently then.
Blimmey Paul, i completely forgot all about 4222 ???lol. (So there's actually eight "Y" reg's left in service then !). As far as i know, i don't think either 4219 or 4222 have been withdrawn ??? (Just weren't used out in service today !).

Yeah, I assume its 8 Y/TOH's left - unless further withdrawals have taken place. Won't be long before these bow out of service it seems.
I'll certainly be sorry to see those old work horses go (the Tridents !), as the 17 years of seeing and travelling on them seems to have really flown by and i've just got so used to seeing them always running around ! Will seem very strange eventually, when all the Tridents here full stop, have all gone out of service ? (I wouldn't even like to guess when that time might be ???).

I saw 4211 in the queue of Buses slowly running down into Wheatley Street Garage early this evening and because its Destination Box was blank, i asked the Driver of it what route he'd been on and he said: 16/16A and also on the 771 as well.
A friend of mine said that 4218 was also out today on the 18 route, although i personally never saw it on the road today ?
I saw 4223 being towed through Pool Meadow Bus Station this morning, closely followed by 4219, also on tow !!! Both Buses then headed up onto the Ring road, on their way over to Pensnett in the Black Country ! I was over at Miller Street Garage about 5 hours after i saw them and they definitely hadn't been taken over there ? 4144 and 4212 were the only Cov Buses at Miller Street today, plus 4407 as well, which i think was there to ferry some spares back to Coventry, as i saw some bits and pieces being put inside it ?

It now appears that i caught 4220 on Monday just gone, not realizing at the time, that it was actually out on its last day in service ? (A nice Bus as well, that really seemed to run OK !). Another withdrawal must be 4222, which i haven't seen on the road for quite awhile now ??? (I'm not 100% sure where it even is at present, whether it's still at Wheatley Street Garage, or is now standing over at Pensnett ?).

4211 is on the 4
Thanks Lukeeee2018 for spotting 4211, as i managed to find that one today and went for a trip on it ! Two more joyriding delights today (possibly for the last time ?) were:
4190 - 18
4221 - 16A
I didn't see 4217 or 4218 out on the road at all, although 4218 was parked in the yard up at the Swanswell end of Wheatley Street Garage this morning, when i first went into Town and was standing in-between Tridents 4398 and 4404 !
As i type this posting here, 4221 will be just about leaving Town for its last trip of the day, up to Warwickshire Business Park on the 16A. (I only just got off it myself 20 minutes ago !!!lol).

4190 - 10 (It came off the road for some reason, at around 2.30pm time ?).
4211 - 5
4218 - 5 (Its Driver told me that it's gonna be out on the road until 11.00pm tonight !).
4221 - 10 (The Driver of it took us all on a slight mystery tour today, after accidentally going the wrong way !!!lol).
Just got off 4218, which is now on its way to Dolomite Avenue by Canley Station, where it is due to finish at 10.50pm !
4221 was also out late tonight, still on the 10 route and is just coming "OUT OF SERVICE" about now, at 10.38pm !

Thanks Tony, as that's good news to hear !!!! I sadly think you could be right though about 4217, as i haven't seen it out on the road for well over a week now ?
4211 18
4218 10 EG 1312
4221 6 TF 1312
Managed a trip out on the three of them today JoNi and 4211 was still out and about on the 18A at gone 6.30pm tonight ! I don't know how long it stayed out for, but if it was doing its last trip when i last saw it earlier tonight, i doubt if it would have got back to the Garage before 7.30pm at the earliest ?
4190 was parked out at the side of the Garage (near the top end !) with 10E on its blinds, but i myself never actually saw it out on the road at all today ?
4217 was parked out at the Swanswell end of the Garage and although it appeared to still be fully intact (with hopefully no bits taken off it anywhere ?), i've a feeling that it could well be withdrawn from service ?
4211; 4218 & 4221 out so far today

4221 is doing an 'unusual working' and is on the 9
4211; 4218 are on the 6
"WOW", i didn't expect that today, but "THANK YOU" Tony for your much appreciated reply !!! (Will pop down Town to photograph them !).
Managed to do a round trip on all three of these remaining "Y" reg Tridents this afternoon and glad that i did, as the Driver on each of them, all had 5+ minutes waiting time at the terminus and so that was more than enough time for me to take some photo's of them, doing both external and internal shots !!!!!!
With both parents fast asleep and sod all of interest to watch on TV tonight, i decided to pop back down into Town yet again for an hour or so, just to get me out the four walls !!!lol. Am pleased that i did though, as 4218 happened to still be out on the road ! It caught me a bit by surprise to be honest, as i didn't expect it to still be out and so i missed going for a run out up to Tanyard Farm on it, but not being one to be defeated (lol), i jumped on 4376 and got off it not far from the bottom of Tile Hill Lane, ready then to jump on 4218 as it headed back towards Town. When it did eventually arrive and i jumped on it, i'd only been on the thing for less than two minutes, when some boy racer (or as i like to call them: "MORONS" !) decided to come flying past us, but then suddenly slammed his brakes on and did a sharp left turn into the car park of the Standard Triumph Club. The Bus Driver's quick reactions sure prevented an accident there, as he quickly slammed his brakes fully on, while at the same time blowing his horn as well ! Even when he'd completely stopped, he still kept his hand on the horn for a good few seconds afterwards !!!!lol.
Thinking yet again that it must surely be the last day in service for these old Tridents, i forced myself out the House to go down and chase after the bloomin' things (lol), even though i've got a stack of work here at home that i really need to be getting on with, but i might as well make the most of these old Buses while i still can ? Tony giving us the heads up earlier on what route they were on, certainly made things a bit easier for me today, as i knew exactly then where to look out for 'em !!! One thing that has got me puzzled tonight though, is that 4221 has been parked out up the side of the Garage and looks as if it may well be out in service again on January 2nd ? Be nice if it is, but i don't think i'll be able to go chasing after it again next time, as my Family will crucify me if i do, although there's always the back door i can sneak out of ???lol. (Any idea at all when the "TAX" runs out on these old Tridents, as i thought it might have been today ?).

I hadn't planned to go out anywhere today, but thanks to the heads up on here from forum member JoNi, informing us of 4211 being out in service today, what else could i do for possibly one last time, than to head off out and go for a trip on it ? The Driver of it was great and with a 7 minute break at the Hospital terminus, he got off the Bus to have a quick fag and happily just left me to get on with photographing 4211 from all angles ? The light was starting to fade a bit at the time, so i was having to take a large amount of photo's (both with and without the camera flash !), so that i'd got a large back up of photo's, just in case some of them didn't turn out too good ? (ie: Slightly Blurred, or a bit Off-Centre etc, etc...). I did one round trip and was gonna call it a day then and go back home, but then my good friend "JoNi", the Bus Spotting God (and former East Kent heartthrob !) jumps on the Bus in Pool Meadow and so that was it, i ended up staying on it and doing a second round trip with him !!!lol. He eventually abandoned the Bus at the Hospital terminus, but as it was the last run of the day (going just as far then as "HEN LANE" only !), i decided that i might as well stay on it until it comes out of service, finally getting off it then in Hen Lane itself, 3 and half hours after i'd first got on it !!!! ("What a sad life i live hey" ?lol). By this time though, it had obviously gone dark outside, with the only light available coming from the street lamps ! Thought i might have a split second when i got off, to take one last photo of 4211 before it pulled away, but fortunately for me, the Driver got off it as well to have another fag (lol), so with the flash fully in use this time, i was able to have a couple of minutes taking yet more pics, although this time with the Bus displaying "NOT IN SERVICE" on its destination display ! (God only knows what the passing motorists and local residents must have thought, with my camera flash lighting up the road ???lol). Once his fag was finished and the Bus had been checked for any lost property, or any P*ssed up passengers sound asleep on the back seat (lol), the Driver then switched off all its interior lights and off he went back to the Garage ! I really hope it won't be the last time that i see 4211 on the road again and would love for JoNi, Tony (or anyone really ?) to post something on here on Monday, saying that it's out on the road once again, but i won't hold my breath on that, as we all know that its days are numbered now !!!! The Driver did tell me that it was a good Bus to drive and that a lot of Drivers do prefer the old Tridents to the new Platinum's, much to my surprise there ? I myself was very impressed with the heating in 4211, as i sat upstairs on my very last run on it and that top deck was literally like an oven inside !!! I personally can't recall going on any other Coventry Bus, with heating as good as what 4211's was today ??? ("Brilliant it was" !).
As an unloved (in some official quarters) mere mortal who grew up in west Kent who went out for a ride on a Trident yesterday, it seems like only yesterday when I attended a Transport Users Meeting (when such things existed) to hear the then boss of Coventrys buses saying we are getting 22 new buses as the current fleet is not this years model!
When i saw the likes of 4211 first come onto the road back in August 2001, it certainly does only seem like yesterday JoNi when it happened and it's amazing really, just how quickly time does fly by ? It only just dawned on me this morning, that the 4203 - 4224 batch of Tridents were the last ones delivered new to "TRAVEL WEST MIDLANDS" in Coventry (in their Red, Blue and White livery !), whereas the next batch of Tridents (4396 onwards !) were delivered in the then new "TRAVEL COVENTRY" Sky Blue livery ! Excusing the 4370 - 4381 batch of Tridents that we had transferred over here not so long back, 4211 will now be the last Bus in service from Coventry's "TRAVEL WEST MIDLANDS" era !!!!
As for you being an unloved mere mortal JoNi who grew up in "WEST" Kent, it really saddens me to hear that mate !!! (You might have been better off actually living in "EAST KENT" instead ?lol). Joking aside, loads of people love you here in Cov JoNi, as you're a top man, a good mate and you're certainly bloomin' good when it comes to the Buses and especially their running / Timetable side of things !!!!! (I myself never fully knows what goes where, or when ???lol).
ps: Hope your photo's of 4211 yesterday turned out OK ??? (Mine weren't too bad i guess and i've certainly seen worse !!!lol).

There's no withdrawn vehicles at Coventry. 4373 & 4375 have both been reinstated and their PVR is increasing.
Don't forget during the University holidays there's platinums spare being used on the 7 & 18 so some tridents will be spare
Yep, makes sense. Thanks Tony.
