I'm currently away and using the stagecoach app and have to say that it absolutely puts NXWM's to shame and makes it look so basic it's actually embarrassing!
Does anyone know of any plans to bring the app in to the year 2017?

Yes.
You would have thought they would have updated the "home" page to Crimson livery!

Yes.
Timescales on this? Any idea what'll include?

The only thing that I'd want is for it to be a bit faster, it's usually fine but sometimes at peaks, it takes forever to load a stop's data. I guess fixing some of the buses not tracking would be good, too.
I loved the app when it first came out- infact, travelling around now I couldn't be without it. However, after using the stagecoach one, and the level of detail and information I crave for the NXWM to do something similar... The way the real time is shown, it gives you an actual map of the route (in great detail), you can buy tickets from within the app for that particular journey, and with all the new tickets available this function would be fantastic. I hope improvements are made sooner rather than later.

The Network West Midlands app does exactly the same for me every morning without fail just after 8, most of the time I see a no departures message and have to refresh it again.
Speaking of a new app, some features for us bus Vegetables would be nice ;)
London is brilliant for bus enthusiasts, a developer has even adapted the London Vehicle Finder into their bus app so you can search for specific vehicles or see what buses are on a route. Edinbugh has also has a live bus, and tram map available online.

One thing that shouldn't be too hard to implement is tracking what stop the bus you're waiting for is at, I'm pretty sure you could do it with the Arriva app last time I was in Tamworth, and I know that there's something similar available within Google Maps.
Can I ask, what features does the Stagecoach have that simply puts NX to shame ? I use the app on a frequent basis and I generally can't complain. Times seem to be accurate. Design is subjective, I kind of wish the journey planner was more mobile optimised as it does come across as desktop interface shrunk down.

You can order pole dancers onto your bus from the Stagecoach app. NX haven't caught up with this yet
