Title: 11 Birmingham Outer Circle
Post by: 2206 on February 21, 2017, 09:02:17 PM
Does anyone know if anything, but a Gemini, Solo, or Metrobus ever got onto the 11C and 11S when they were operated by PB?
Did a PB President, B7TL ALX400, or any single decker other than a Solo ever get onto the 11 when operated by PB?

In all the time I've had an interest in the Birmingham and West Midlands bus scene-now approaching twenty years-I've never seen anything but a double decker on the Outer Circle when it's NXWM related.

I've seen and been on some very rare E200 MMC, Omnilinks, Volvo B10L and Volvo B7RLE (MK1 and MK2)  that have appeared on the 11 in the past. Seen and been on Solo on the 11S when it operated as well.
There is also a picture on the main site of 535 on the 11A operating a 11E to Erdington.

Optare Solo also used to be usual on the 11S (same line of route as the 11A).

I do believe Tony had a photo of an O405GN on the 11C at one point on the old Fotopic website, I forget which it was now though

Was that actually in service? I was under the impression that it was just to see if it fits and presume the blinds were for the photo?

Way back in 1988 there was a short-lived branding for the Outer Circle using Leyland Nationals:

I can't recall, but I'm sure somebody will be able to confirm it. There's a photo of one in service on the 62 so it's possible that it was in service on the 11

A bendi has never been in service on the 11. I took one around the full route as part of my bendibus driver training. The photo being referred to was actually just me running dead from PB garage to Bromford Lane/Tyburn Road to start service on the 67. I will try and add it to the main site tonight

I never realised there were Outer Circle branded Nationals.  They weren't uncommon on the route in the 80s.  I only seem to have one (poor) shot.

National 2's were branded up for the Outer Circle:

The posed photo of 6007 on Bronford Lane is now on the main site at the bottom of this page

Thanks for the clarification Tony, my memory of it was a little foggy, I thought somebody had said somewhere that it was in service. Was the one (6011 I think) pictured on the Bristol Road on the 62 actually in service or was that a similar situation?
Thanks for uploading the photo too!

6011 was in service on the Bristol Road. That was also the one I took all the way around the Outer Circle as part of my training
