Title: Double 0
Post by: B.C Driver on November 14, 2016, 03:09:36 PM
I'm not talking about James Bond!

Just wondering why new buses don't start double 0.

Platinums started 6701
Streetdecks 3301
E200s 801

Etc etc. It's not like they have to tally up with registrations anymore.

One reason that buses (and trains) are numbered this way is so that if the number of vehicles/units is a multiple of ten they will always start with a 1 and end with a 0. i.e: 30 would be xx01 - xx30. 100 would be xx01 - x100. It's just neater than 0 - 29 or 0 - 99. Also, the first in any series will always carry a number 1 as the last digit if this rule is followed..
