Ian Allan has died aged 93. I know he was mainly associated with railways, but his company also published many bus related books over the years, and those of us of a certain age will remember the 'British Bus Fleets' serise of the 1960s and 70s.

Sad news. More than a small proportion of my books on buses were published by Ian Allan, including the British Bus Fleets mentioned, as well as Fleetlist books published around 1985, Buses Annual, the Buses in Camera series and Bus Monographs etc.
However, for me, the main publication was the monthly Buses magazine, originally named Buses Illustrated, when this was often the only source of information on new vehicles, withdrawals and fleet changes in the UK. A lot has changed since the start of the internet!
I remember buying bus models from his shop in town when I was little I still have them all in boxes to this day

I also remember in my visits to the area before I lived around here, having to get to the shop before lunch on a Saturday when it closed.
