Preston Bus had got one of their new 15 plate B5LH's (40628, for anyone whose interested) in service on the 23 today.
In other news, 30123 was on the 16, and 40587 was on the 19A. (Think these are rare?)

40627-9 are B9TLs, they aren't hybrids. Part of that batch of Volvo stock apparently, Go North East have just taken 4 of these as well.

Yes the former Yourbus Citaro's only saw the one parked at the front of garage but looked pretty ready for service, with the 16 being a PVR of 3 service, no doubt this will mean the three recently acquired Citaros will do the main workings and 33043 will cover when one is VOR'd, nice to see newer single deckers being brought into the fleet, shame they couldnt move the 3 from Redditch up there to join them

Maybe the 3 from RH will move up there in the future to concentrate the type up there? Obviously Signature would need some new buses first for that to happen

Maybe thats what the Streetlite Maxi are for to release the Three Mercs to go up North and to make a service down here Signature using a few of the Operates, maybe X3 as it seems to have a few RH drivers driving it from time to time during the week........
Preston Bus Citaro reportedly on fire today.

Damage to buses and yobbish behaviour is causing us to rethink school holiday ticket special offers:
**Bus Vandalism Damages Child Ticket Offers**
Following serious vandalism on a Tanterton service 35 bus today, Preston Bus is having to rethink the possibility of introducing a Child Day ticket, or even repeating its popular school holiday special offers.
Two boys and two girls used their £1.20 child day tickets today to board the service 35 on Friargate, alighting at Lane Ends. During the journey, they set light to five seats, and graffitied parts of the bus interior.
CCTV footage will be used as evidence and passed to police, with a view to prosecution and invoicing the parents for the costs of repairs and a replacement bus, which could run into thousands.
Today's incident follows sustained yobbish behaviour from groups of youngsters over the time the specal offer has been running, including abusing other passengers, throwing eggs from vehicle windows, and fast food all over seats.
A Preston Bus spokesperson said "It's a real shame that once again, a minority of young people are spoiling things for others. We ran the special offer to make it easier for children to travel during their school holidays. If well received we intended to introduce a child day ticket permanently - but following this we'll have to rethink if it's worth the damage caused."

@Tony very kindly explained on the rationale behind NXWM replacing the engines in the 1 Wolverhampton buses with much more efficient diesel engines reducing emissions amazing. Very hard even for me to find good publicity about Rotala to be fair.
But isnt the fact they are replacing buses with much more economical & environmentally friendly buses not good publicity?
Not to the general public who are constantly being told that electric and hybrid cars are the bees knees.

Not all the hybrids are getting converted only 5402/9/12. I believe it's create spares for the existing E400Hs as the batteries in these are degrading faster than the volvos. There has been technological advancement in engines since those hybrids came out (7 years if they are 13 plate)
@Simon Dunn are these streetdecks pure diesel or smart hybrids like NX 67 plates onwards buses?

The Streetdecks feature Micro Hybrid technology, as do the Streetlites. Biggest benefit being that they're LEB certified. For those who don't know, LEB certification means greater subsidy from the Government (BSOG). That's why operators are forking out extra for Smart Hybrids/Micro Hybrids.
The standard E200MMC (Voith) is also certified for LEB. Not sure on the Allison versions that a lot of smaller operators appear to be leasing these days.
See http://www.rotalaplc.com/news/rotala-announces-further-investment-in-new-vehicles.html for more details.

@Tony gave me this answer which I am most greatfull to him for:
Tony this is just out of curiosity & nothing more following the PLC Announcement to move to a fully hybrid fleet at NX what is the reason NXWM are converting these early hybrids to diesel?@Tony reply:
The PLC has not announce it is moving to a fully hybrid fleet, it has announced it is moving to zero emission fleet. A 9 year old hybrid is worse on emissions than a five year old diesel so bringing these up to date is still a step towards zero emission

The Preston Bus new StreetDecks are Microhybrid version 3. This means the vehicles are more fuel efficient due to modifications to stop/start technology/ the load on the engine etc. However the engine is a "normal" Euro 6 Diesel engine.

Quote from: winston on August 15, 2023, 07:04:58 PMWhat's the status of 40030? Is that in the paintshop with 40406?
Is there any likelihood of 30114 being put back together & repainted for Preston?
40030 and 40406 both due back on the rd soon in the new livery.
I don't believe 114 will be back anytime soon if at all
30501 has now transferred and is in service at Preston Bus
