Wessex & Hallmark have been operating various weekend park & ride bus services & coach services respectively since before Xmas. This latest service was introduced from 1st May.
Wessex don't have any Versa's, did you managed to see a registration?
I only got a glimpse before, and the only bus I saw on the shuttle was Solo YJ62FPG. I would guess that was older than the last buses Grayline had on it?
There was a Hallmark coach in the coach park liveried for the London shuttle but the coach park attendant stood in front of it and I wasn't in the mood for a row.

Yes very slightly older as the last buses used were 13 plate Streetlites which I assume will have gone off lease if they were leased as I don't think Grayline will have any use for them

I would suspect it excludes the depot, and the business will simply be absorbed in to Tividale as Ludlows or some routes could be operated out of Kidderminster. Which incidentally is started to be cleared of some scrappers.

Greater Manchester operator with a fleet of 18 buses?
"The Proposed Acquisition comprises a purchase of a freehold site and 18 buses from a business based in Greater Manchester. The Proposed Acquisition would be a strategic acquisition aimed at capitalising on the re-franchising opportunities in Greater Manchester. The Directors believe that, should it complete, it will enable Rotala to significantly grow its operations in this area and potentially double its bus capacity. No additional overheads are expected to be required as a result of the acquisition and the Directors believe that the Company will benefit from additional sales, gross profit and EBITDA contributions of approximately £2.0 million, £0.4 million and £0.2 million respectively under Rotala's ownership, in the first full year following completion of the Proposed Acquisition. "
More info on the Hansons acquisition:
Hansons Acquisition
Hansons is based in Stourbridge between two of Rotala's existing depots. The Directors believe that acquisition of Hansons will cement Rotala as the second largest operator in the West Midlands and is expected to strengthen its negotiating position for tendered services in the future. The Company expects to benefit from material synergies upon the integration and rationalisation of Hansons, with an expected Group EBITDA contribution of £0.4 million once integrated. These synergies will be realised primarily from:
· moving Hansons assets across to Rotala's existing depots;
· eliminating surplus overhead; and
· the disposal of Hanson's existing depot.
As at 31 March 2017, Hansons had net assets of approximately £0.4 million and generated revenues and gross profits of approximately £2.0 million and £1.1 million respectively.* The cost of the Hansons acquisition is approximately £1 million, including the necessary working capital and capital expenditure associated with the acquisition, which will be satisfied from the net proceeds of the Subscription.
*Hansons unaudited financial statements for year ended 31 March 2017
I'd imagine some of the E200's are leased as otherwise asset value would be surely higher?
Plus additional to that, the following is in prelim stages:
The Company is also currently in negotiations relating to other acquisitions, all of which are at a preliminary stage, including:
Opportunity A
· A further strategic acquisition in Manchester that could increase Rotala's bus capacity to 200 vehicles, representing approximately 10 per cent. of the local market
· Cost of acquisition expected to be approximately £4.6 million, (financed through equity and debt)
· Estimated revenue and EBITDA contributions of £11.0 million and £0.9 million in the first full year following completion of such acquisition
Opportunity B
· Acquisition of airport based bus business
· Common customer base with existing business
· Would use existing spare depot capacity and overhead
· Cost of acquisition expected to be £2.2 million, (financed through equity and debt)
· Historic sales and EBITDA of £6.1 million and £0.5 million
Further info on the two possible acquisitions from the paragraph above:
"including a further strategic acquisition in Manchester and an airport based hotel bus business. Should they, or other similar opportunities proceed, they would be financed from the net proceeds of the Placing. It is expected that these acquisitions will be completed, if they should proceed, within the current financial year."

Opportunity B - A bolt on hotel bus business for Hallmark Connections, Heathrow

There aren't that many additional operators in/around Heathrow that Rotala haven't already bought, following Wings and OFJ. I'd reckon it's a good market to be active in, especially given the prospect of the third runway.

Possibly. But Rosso's turnover up to March 31st 2016 was £9.5 million (someway off the £11 million quoted), plus it had also fallen from the year before. Unless turnover has since grown by 16+% 2016-17?

It is great, Tony, to have all this information available from you. One point I noticed is that you now have 11522 (Volvo B12B/ Plaxton Panther) allocated to Redditch. Assuming the passenger numbers still justify deckers, I'd expect so.
I'm guessing here, but as the Enviro double deckers and E300's are not that old, they'll be staying put. I would also guess that the Volvo single deckers will be leased and possibly the Volvo double deckers, bar the Vantage vehicles.

As Manchester are going Euro 6 as well soon, I suspect the 125 leased vehicles will include all the E400's / B9TL's etc which will return to First and be cascaded around the group. Rotala now prefer to buy new brand Micro Hybrids as opposed to upgrading existing vehicles to meet Euro 6 as per NX.
The E300's are based at Oldham.

Clearly, not otherwise Rotala wouldn't have bothered bidding for the 7 small franchises they won, plus there are other large franchises up for grabs over the next year or two.
Also vehicles will be sold after the depot sale (if it goes ahead), not at the same time.
Quote from: Rachvince53 on December 23, 2022, 04:39:29 PMAlso vehicles will be sold after the depot sale (if it goes ahead), not at the same time.
For clarity, it is expected the depot sale will happen before 23/09/23, and why these words are used.
The consideration does not include all the fleet. We are keeping around 40 vehicles from the DBNWL fleet which we want to retain for deployment. Of the fleet being retained some will be kept in DBNWL to operate the contracts which surpass the 23/09/23 Tranche 1 inception. The Balance will be redeployed.
When you bid for any of the Franchises you have to include a vehicle plan, which you are then committed to. The 67 vehicles are what we committed to do for the work we have won. Clearly not delivering on this commitment is a breach of contract.

Quote from: winston on December 23, 2022, 04:15:14 PMClearly, not otherwise Rotala wouldn't have bothered bidding for the 7 small franchises they won, plus there are other large franchises up for grabs over the next year or two.
In addition to the above, Diamond NW will be also be building a new purpose built depot near to their current Eccles depot to both replace that & operate the new franchises from:
" The depot in Eccles is to be relocated to a brand new, purpose built state of the art site nearby. The new depot will have capacity for over 100 vehicles. Due to the length of time in purchasing a site, obtaining planning permission and constructing the facility, additional parking, office and workshop capacity has been secured in the vicinity of our current site on an interim basis to enable the successful operation of the new franchises from September 2023. Furthermore, over 60 brand new double and single deck vehicles will be delivered over the summer, for use on the new franchises. Well pretty much everything at Tividale bar the 68 & 20 plate Streetlites (and in case anyone comments "what about the Yellow Buses Streetlites" well they're NOT Euro 6); the Mellor's; and the already converted Solo's will be gone unless Diamond pay out to have all the non-Euro 6 vehicles converted BUT I can't see them doing that especially the Transdev Volvo's nor any of the other Volvo's infact so that makes me wonder if the Volvo's (and other non Euro 6 vehicles) will either be sold on; scrapped or transferred to other depots i.e. Redditch; Kidderminster or even sent to Preston because as far as I'm aware Preston & Blackpool don't currently have any clean air zones to worry about so I guess they could if there was requirement.

Perhaps you need to check your facts, there's a lot more Euro 6 vehicles at Tividale. All the ex Claribel vehicles for a start

You are correct, neither Preston or Blackpool at present have a clean air zone nor is one proposed currently.

I'm sure they can move stuff around by then, Kiddie and Redditch have some Euro 6 stuff that could be swapped for B7's.

The majority of the Euro 6 buses at both Kiddie & Redditch are already employed on commercial routes & TfWM tenders.
Rotala have plans in place for bolstering Diamond WM's Euro 6 fleet for 1/5/23

I've noticed they haven't acquired anymore companies yet as this time 12 months ago they had just purchased Claribels then a month or so later they purchased Johnson's there are chinese whispers floating around that Rotala are looking at or have looked at Chaserider although this could just be smoke and mirrors
Contracts have been conditionally exchanged between Rotala & TfGM for the sale of Bolton Depot & 134 current DBNW buses for transfer to the RV Pool, the remaining 56 buses at DBNW will be retained by Rotala:

QuoteThe acquisition of the entire share capital of Rotala PLC by a number of existing directors and associates looks set to take place, with shareholders likely to accept the offer
There has been progress towards the acquisition of Rotala PLC by the newly-formed Rotala Group, a newly incorporated entity directly and indirectly owned and controlled by Simon Dunn, Robert Dunn, John Gunn, the spouses of Simon Dunn and Robert Dunn, and Wengen Pension Plan. An initial announcement was released by Rotala on 19 September regarding a possible cash offer for the company, and the boards of RGL and Rotala now say that they reached agreement on the terms and conditions of a recommended acquisition under which Rotala Group (RGL) will acquire the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Rotala PLC.
