I wonder how bad the damage is?  I'd certainly imagine this will go for repaint/refurb after repairs?

Correct. That's what you get when you don't listen to a RED warning light on your dashboard.

From memory yes, but I could be wrong! Might have been a wolves one go up before now too on a smaller scale.

4312 suffered an engine fire in 2007

Considering the number of Tridents in the NX fleet, the Tridents haven't really had that much of a 'burning desire' to catch fire

There's been plenty in other parts of the country (particularly on motorway runs), I'd say NXs are ageing quite well overall.

London operators have experienced a number of fires, but there a higher number than here in WM. NX Tridents have done pretty well if you compare the fleet size / against no of fires with other types such as Presidents / Mercs / B6LE etc

If we get a very warm summer with temperatures frequently about 30 celsius, I wonder what impact this will have on the number of bus fires.

Also on a side note, I don't remember many Metrobuses lighting up.

Not so much fires, more a case of overheating with lack of water! [They should cut out when the temp sensor says so .]

Apparently, Saturday will be the hottest day of the year, according to Good Morning Britain. Wonder if there might be a bus fire on that day? If it happens - don't blame it on me lol.

4336 was completely burned to the ground

You can still see the patch of replaced tarmac on the A45 where it caught fire

Getting back to topic, on ye olde Facebook it's been annoying reading some of the comments left on Birmingham Updates posts, basically along the lines of "too many fires, never catching the bus again", "do they not maintain vehicles" etc etc.

It's quite sad that there is this public perception. Anyone would think that all 1500 of NX's buses were ready to catch fire any second!

The thing is that the more buses you operate, the higher the risk that one will catch fire. And the good thing (if there can be a good thing about a fire) is that nobody has been injured.

When you consider the long hours modern buses operate, and the mileage they cover, occasional engine fires are unsurprising. They've happened for years, I recall seeing Fleetlines and Metrobuses suffering engine fires but generally you only knew about them if they were local to you. But in these days of online and social media, news about them spreads like wild fire, if you'll pardon the pun.

This is true but they do appear to have become a more frequent occurrence in the last couple of years, especially the more catastrophic ones resulting in vehicles being written off.

How many more times are you going to ask?
Probably till I get an answer, but sorry. I asked one time on the BC thread but no one was answering so I asked again but still no answer, so I thought they will only answer if I post it in the right thread, so I posted the same question here.

As no one has answered after the third time of you asking, I think it's safe to assume no one has any photo's or can give you an update  ;)
I might go myself. Are you allowed inside Carlyle?

If I know of any news people might be interested in, then I post it (as long as it is not something NX want kept secret). 4613 is still at Carlyle. Its seats are still at Miller Street, all retrimmed waiting for it to get to Walsall for them to be refitted

Are there any photos or updates on the bus being repaired?

No,
it'll be out soon, in the worlds of the legendary Michael Winner, RIP, 'Calm down dear'

Woah. Stop.

Michael Winner is dead?

4613 is now moving around Carlyle under its own power again, so will hopefully be back soon
