Post by: settlerman on January 22, 2014, 12:57:00 PM
Noticed today that 4171 has got its fleet number on the interior of the upper saloon.

I was on 4901 the other day which had it's fleet number upstairs above the front window to the left as the stopping sign. Black on a grey background, never as good as the Metrobus whose internal panel was designed with a place to have the fleet number.

4597 had one as well last weekend when I rode it on the 529. Maybe NX are starting to put them on the upper deck of every decker

Have you rode all 75 tridents,21 hybrids and 19 Spectra then?to find out ;) (Only joking). Yes I have also noticed the black fleet numbers upstairs on all the tridents I have rode this week. I have noted 2023/4 with the black fleet numbers also

I believed 2154 and the CV B7RLE's were delivered with fleet numbers like that. 4578 at WN is one of the ones I have seen with the black fleet numbers on the upper deck

I would imagine that most if not all Tridents and other Double Deckers and Single deckers at BC and most/all other garages have the black fleetnumbers. All of WN's Tridents appear to have the black fleet numbers on the upper deck and all B5' at PL have the black fleet numbers now

Is that a fleet number on the upper saloon also, Nath?

Yes if you are referring to the hybrids and tridents although I'm not sure whether those black fleet numbers had already been applied on the upper saloon. Tridents definetley didn't have black fleet numbers on the upper deck previously

Indeed they didn't. Just seems they're making it easier for the bus to be reported, as no staff member has any need or requirement for the upper saloon numbers

Maybe they will come in handy after a bridge strike so they know which bus to 'stick the roof back onto' afterwards, or maybe it's for passengers wishing to report an incident to do with the vehicle who will not be passing the lower saloon fleet number on their way off  :P
Either way I would say 90% of passengers wouldn't even notice it & 85% of passengers would not even know what it is

Ha, I think you're right there -- "O.K. Madam (even though 'she's' just some Northfield Bulldog wanting to complain about the driver bringing her sprog up about the out of date WeeklySaver scratch card), do you know the vehicle fleet number?" . . "Durr, Da numba is 63 u kno." Etc etc etc

Its like people who notice it say 'what's that number for?' To which my usual response was 'I don't know to be honest' ;)
