Title: Tidy NXCoventry buses
Post by: filbus1 on December 03, 2013, 05:26:37 PM
I visit Coventry quite often and always think the NXC fleet is clean and well maintained. Even the Mercs. still look presentable.

there is a minimum of glass etching and rough paintwork on any of the buses. A credit to National Express.

Yes, Coventry usually seem to be tidier. Why? I have no clue. I suppose the volume of people carried on each bus per day is lower than in Birmingham meaning less chance for litter/anti social behaviour?

I'm only guessing here. I don't know any statistics.

I agree with you. Coventry buses seems reduce who people smoking, mess, and anti social behavior. 8/8A route is quite bad due of lots litter, smoking, antisocial behavior and loud music but similar former 32/33 route.

I agree that things are better in Coventry than in Birmingham with regard to smoking on buses, etching windows, litter et c.
But this is mainly because few places could be worse than Birmingham in that regard!

I have to agree Covs buses seem better kept, wouldn't go as far as to say the population are better behaved though, perhaps there are a handful in Birmingham who ruin the average but....

Yes that's true! Service 11/12 is one popular in Coventry bus route between Coventry to University. Service 11/12 has fewer litter, not really much smoking happen, not happen vandalism window, few time loud music, and only bit problem with feet on the seats when people don't want another people use sit on the seats so It quite look interest Service 11/12 is popular and less anti-social behavior and Service 8/8A is bit popular and quite sometime anti-social behavior.

Only I can remember, In 2011 there are almost time anti-social behavior, loud music, litter, smoking, smoking cannabis, drugs and feet on the seats that on the route is 21,21C and 32/33. Now they have been improve safety buses, reduce smoking, reduce drugs, reduce anti behavior, reduce loud music and reduce litter and I believe NXC good CCTV control.

Only there bit problem with Coventry school routes (2S,6S,8S,16S,21S,23S,58,58A,59,772) still problem with kids reason shout to another kids, throw newspaper, litter on the floor buses, loud music, feet on the seats, and few more etc.

I agree that Coventry buses are tidier than the Birmingham ones, especially when you see those BC Tridents for 900 with all the windows scratched turning into Pool Meadow. (I assume the Enviros are better now as they're brand new)

Back in 2008-09 when I lived in Coventry, I most often used the 12 & 19. The buses of 12 were usually tidy & quiet probably because most of the passengers were uni students. There would be some more litter on the morning departures but it's alright overall. Yet for the 19, though it's usually less crowded, I came across more antisocial behaviour, smoking & drunk on board but still not too bad. I did take the 21 a couple of times & I think the condition was worse, but not as much as the 900 which you could nearly always expect some loud music or shouts on board.

I find the 12 just as noisy as other buses. And can you just clarify which route the 19 took back in 2008/2009. Do you refer to the current 19 or as it was back in the days when it could be best described as a scenic tour of Earlsdon?

I refer to the "Earlsdon scenic tour", the closest proximity of which now is the 18/18A. 12 is not a lot quieter than other routes, as Coventry buses are not very noisy indeed, while 900 is much noisier.
