Title: Double decker routes that should be single decker
Post by: Sh4318 on December 01, 2013, 12:28:22 AM
Which routes are currently double deck that don't need to be?

I think the 276 got too many deckers today, there were hardly any singles, and consequently these deckers ended up on the 243/244 this evening

Also the obvious one is the 53/289, school boards fair enough, but not every board qnd certainly not Saturdays!

I also think the Northwood Park circulars in Wolverhampton get too many deckers, and the same goes for the WB 83/89

I would agree with you on an extent there, doubles are justified, but not completely double decker operation. I was originally quite surprised when deckers started appearing on these routes. But West Bromwich - Smethwick (83), and Oldbury - Smethwick, Hales Lane - Birmingham (89) do require doubles at busy times. Probably not completely double decker, but a few a day, like the 8/89 (WA), only last week I got the 89 to Birmingham on a Sunday (4510) and a double was required for that journey, from Londonderry, it was very busy.

With the 276 on saturdays deckers are needed as that and the X96 are VERY busy come 3-6pm and in the mornings aswell don't forget they aren't on the 243/4 for alot of journeys.

the 53/289 i don't know about so i'm not going to comment.

And i agree with you about the 32/33 although 1 decker aday is needed as after school on a mon-fri they are needed as that route can be fairly busy
