Title: Merry Hill Late Night Christmas Shopping Services
Post by: andrew1991 on November 19, 2013, 10:17:11 AM
On Thursday 19th, Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Monday 23rd December there will be special late night services at 00:20.

4m to Walsall, 141 to Bearwood, 222 to Dudley, 276 to Dudley, 276 to Wollaston, 276 to Dudley, X96 to Dudley & X96 to Wollaston.

I think it's the first time they've done this as i can't remember it being in place a couple years ago when i was working down there.

Interesting stuff. Would I be right guessing this is a NXWM scheme as the 81, 226, 255, 297, which run in the evening by other companies have not been mentioned

Diamond would possibly have to run the bus that does the 226 short NIS to merry hill just to do a extra trip.

Plus would centro fund it??

Would be nice if Diamond could postpone the 2345  255 departure from Merry Hill until 00.20, just so that the workers of Kingswinford have an option, as there's not one route operating there after midnight on these days.

Merry Hill normally closes at 9pm. Is it closing any later on the given dates before Christmas?

Didn't last year it opened till 11pm or 'late' according to the adverts?

Yes it does indeed John. Stayed open till 12 last year.I know Wolverhamptons Late night Shopping starts next Wednesday when the Christmas Lights are switched on so i would imagine Merry Hill will follow suit soon

Merry Hill normally opens till midnight in the last week before Christmas, whilst during December the centre normally stays open until 10pm during the week. Last year i believe that several stores, M & S, Sainsburys reopened at 00:01 on Monday 24 december, will be interesting to see if any stores go 24/7 this year?

That annoys me. Why the bloody hell in their right mind wants to go shopping at 2am? If I'd just finished work at 1am the last thing I'd want to do is go to M&S!

But I guess it Supply and Demand of this Marxist world we live in. Profits profits profits forget the little man.

I'm glad I do majority of my shopping at local stores. I will not buy into the big guys. Its the same with the discussion of bus services on Christmas Day...

Is there a 00:20 one on Christmas Eve? I certainly hope not!

This is what is confusing me, i take it that when they say there will be journeys at 00:20 on Monday 23 December, they actually mean 00:20 on Xmas eve. Would be pointless having them on the Monday morning, Merry Hill closes at 17:00 on a Sunday?

Well, I expect the following:

19/12/13 - 0020hours - Night of 18/12/13
20/12/13 - 0020hours - Night of 19/12/13
21/12/13 - 0020hours - Night of 20/12/13
23/12/13 - 0020hours - Night of 22/12/13

Does that make sense? Or am I one day out?

To me, i would say that the 00:20 journey will operate as part of the daytime service of that day

19/12/13 journey will operate at 00:20 on the 20/12/13
20/12/13 journey will operate at 00:20 on the 21/12/13
21/12/13 journey will operate at 00:20 on the 22/12/13
23/12/13 journey will operate at 00:20 on the 24/12/13

I don't know Stu, my mind is being stewed with technicalities! I wish they'd determine it a bit more clearer. I would've thought if thy say 0020 on the 19/12 say, it would be very very late on the 18th, and very very early on the 19th?

I was just thinking are they tagging these journeys on to the end of the previous days workings?

For some reason the Merry Hill late opening hours are not on the net yet, that would give us more of a clue.

To be honest, if we are having a problem working this one out, what will happen with the public.
