Title: Diamond Jubille/London2012 olympics
Post by: Nathan4775 on May 06, 2012, 08:19:46 PM
Does anyone remeber the gold, purple branding for the 61/63 when the Diamond Jubille was on couple Years back. It would be nice if NXWM did something like that again to promte that :D

London Olympics;

It would be nice if NXWM Birmingham/Coventry Could promte the Olympics by branding some buse, im unsure if BC's red trident is something to do with the London 2012 Olympics if does maybe some other Garages took the same ensitive to Brand some of there buses  ;D

I don't think there are any Olympic events in Birmingham? The nearest are in Coventry aren't they?

If that's true, I wouldn't see a point of NX promoting it.

Travel West Midlands painted two Tridents (4128 and 4223) in a special purple and gold livery in 2002 to celebrate the Queen's golden jubilee.  Whether any buses will be painted in a special livery between now and the beginning of June to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee is anybody's guess.  However, given that diamond is clear, what colour would you paint them ?

I attach a photo of the 2 Tridents from 2002.  They certainly look better than red and white.

A photo of 4128 is on this site as well

(4th one down) The only bus in the fleet to carry 5 completely different liveries

I understand that Centro is teaming up with NXWM to paint a bus is a special livery to mark both events, Centro are paying half the costs. So keep 'em peeled for whichever bus it may be.

How long did the Tridents in the Jubilee livery last?

I can imagine it was at least a year, knowing NX's repaint speed...

Seeing as that photo of 4128 was taken in 2005, it was at least 3 years!

I'd paint them in the same livery as before but allow each garage to Brand 1 bus like that  ;D 8)

Perhaps some sort of pearlescent paint (although it'd cost a fortune I imagine)? Something a bit like the iridescent bronze that Nissan used on Micras a few years back that looked purple and pink in certain shades - only not bronze (obviously).

Didn't rush them selves with repainting it then...

Isn't that just NXWM all over?  ;)

There is more to it than that. It should have been repainted well before it was but a lot of staff at Walsall managed to persuade the then management to keep it in that livery as a 'show' bus. It attended many rallies in those three years getting as far as Blackpool and Showbus.

One of the engineers kept some purple paint back so was able to patch up any scratches and knocks on the lower panels

Quite good thinking that, actually!

That might be a good shout Richie, as I saw it only a couple of weeks ago and it looked absolutely fine, so unless it was in an accident or something I can't see any reason for it to have gone in for repaint, but we'll just have to wait and see
