Colmore row bull st tracks down today with a load of surveyors
Hardly been any further actual track laying since well before Xmas. It' s like waiting for paint to dry. There seem to be as many excavations now along the route as when the utilities were at work. But as for track.......!
It does seem slower than a snail's pace, but in fact they've extended the tracks onto Colmore Circus proper since Christmas, up to the point where the track crosses the road onto the reserved track section alongside the station. The crossing will be done this week, presumably. And there were three men chopping down vegetation on the trackbed just beyond the Great Charles St bridge!
Most of the time spent on projects like this is nothing to do with the actual building work. Most of the work is to do with services, supply, redirection, upgrades, testing etc and obviously space restraints along with H&S are big factors also
Today they're laying track across the road in Colmore Circus towards the side of Snow Hill station. The road is closed completely.

There is also one track length down in Stephenson Street, and they were putting more of the concrete basse there this morning
And the platform edge is in place at the Corporation Street stop outside C&A, or whatever the shop is now.
Buses are now passing over tram tracks in Birmingham city centre for the first time in many years from this week
