Post by: Nathan4775 on April 30, 2012, 06:05:58 PM
Can someone tell who or what are Shonker trains, I was on the 97A today (Blue Diamond) and looked to my right to see a train, possible towards New Street where it had a red drivers cab with "SHONKER TRAINS" and 4 carriges, I'd just like a little more info on this please

You will have seen a freight locomotive of the company 'DB Schenker' Not quite sure why that would be heading for New Street, but locomotives in that livery do regularly turn up at Moor Street on the service to Marylebone

If it was when the 97A was on High Street, Deritend he would see it on the viaduct heading towards Moor Street, so I suspect it was a Marylebone-Moor Street train and what Nathan saw was a view similar to this
