Does anyone know when the actual results of the tender round will be announced? Obviously theres the rumours about 2, 33 and pye greens but what if any other routes were tendered and who will be operating them?

I have heard that there may have to be a rerun of the bidding because Arriva have registered several of the lost journeys commercially. Hmmm stange they need a subsidy at the moment which Arriva are screwing off Staffs CC but if anyone else might run them Arriva suddenly think they are actually profitable
Wouldnt that potentially put them in the councils bad books in future with the council?
Itll be a shame if they actually do keep the routes because passengers will still have to suffer their crappy vehicles. Awful.

This has been going on for years up and down the country.
Yea but if they keep the routes they keep the monopoly, and can continue to be as shit as they like. Deregulation was supposed to bring choice and value// improved service..what a load of b######s. Thatcher the rotten cow lol

Yes & no, on one hand the u-turn by Arriva to operate them commercially will have costs Staffs CC & winning bidders money on abortive tenders/preparation work & now having to re-run the whole process again for the tendered work that is left. On the other hand it will ultimately save Staffs CC more money longer term than even the cheapest bidder, as some former tendered journey will not require any subsidy at all now due to Arriva's moves. It sounds as though Arriva may end up taking a hit on some of those routes now to be operated commercially

...and then if Arriva run them commercially but they make a stubstantive loss so decide to come off what happens then? Does the route get re-tendered or will the county, having saved a few quid decide it should come off for good? Either way bad value for the passenger and bad value for council tax-payers unless they Arriva commit to running the journeys concerned for a lengthy period.

Taking a hit? How do you mean?

make a loss
Somebody needs to hit em by competing with them. Smash their monopoly and force them to either raise their standards or close down

I doubt NX will start anything commercially against Arriva in Cannock unless Arriva start commercial operations against NXWM in the West Midlands. Most of the larger groups don't generally tread on others toes these days, Stagecoach seem to be about the main exception to that rule.......

It would be up to the county to decide, depending on usage and funds available. Of course, Arriva are saving the county money by running commercially, so in theory there ought to be funds available if needed - at the moment anyway.
Arriva are obviously desperate to cling on to their cannock network and lose money doing it....cue more shit old darts transferred in....
Anyone know whos gpt the remaining journeys that had to be re tendered? Hopefully not arriva!
Do we know what date and how we will find out what is happening in the Cannock area ?
FT 06 ZTE had to be towed away from Cannock bus stn last night. Looks bad when even the better (I use that term loosely) members of the fleet are now breaking down....
