Title: Least favourite bus route? (NXWM only)

As the title says - which NXWM bus route is your least favourite and why? Please base your answers on the route itself and not because you don't like the vehicle type which is allocated to it!

Post your suggestions below and I will add them to the poll. I have added a few off the top of my head to get it started

I have set it to allow 2 votes per user in case you can't choose between 2

You can also change your vote if a worse route comes up

I think the 14, 8A/C and 46 should be added!

Well for a start, the X96, have had to many instances of buses not turning up, or turning short.

secondly, the WB42, caught it the other week to get from Dudley to West Brom (the 74 hadn't turned up) & it took for ages.

The 97.

Because it seems to be one of the slowest routes to get in and out of the City Centre, it takes ages to get between Bordesley Green and Moor Street Queensway through loads of traffic lights and the chaos at Garrison Circus. And to top it all, it looks like I may have to catch it to and from work soon which will add loads of wasted time onto my day - I can hardly wait! >:(

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

To be truthful, never travel at the back of a PE bus any more, just to be on the safe side!

Which 46 is that?

The 28 for me, I quite like the route itself (finding it very useful to and from Erdington). Its just the time keeping of it, buses usually turn up late, especially on Sunday afternoons, and then sometimes can be 2-3 minutes early on the last departures. Also no a big fan of the inner circle but have only caught it once (late, busy and very slow) so not sure what its usually like.

Not too sure why the 8A/C and 14 are added.

They take me to and from work, shopping, seeing friends etc. not the most picturesque of routes, but they serve me well.

It's usually the people who don't use a route are the first to criticise it.

See above, I am adding routes on request

That is because the 42 wasn't built to be fast. The 74 is the best option for travelling between West Bromwich & Dudley

I've actually had my fair share of problems with both routes, wouldn't really be suggesting them otherwise!

And Matt I meant the PB 46, it has a terrible reputation both for trouble and reliability although I personally wouldn't know. Another contender for reliability grounds might be the 73.

The 276 between Wollaston and Stourbridge can be really unreliable. Sometimes I'm waiting 30 minutes and 2 turn up together!

I voted the 82/87 because they weren't upgraded properly and B7Tl still get on there loads

Matt said you shouldn't base it on the allocation of the route!

They've been given a unique branding and are allocated WB's youngest double deckers. The only reason older B7TLs are used is because there aren't enough 06 B7s for both routes

Travel London took delivery of the lion's share of new double deckers in 2006

74/75 because although I've only personally used them once, they're pretty bland and straight routes through some pretty bland and straight areas, and I work right by their terminus in the city centre, and constantly see about 6 in a row turn up all the time. And I know we were told not to base it on route allocations, but the run down, badly branded, vandalised B7TL's are just the icing on the cake.

Gonna talk about a few others' choices, just from a personal perspective - having lived on the 97 route and used it pretty much everyday I agree about the time it takes to get into the city, it needs to be addressed. It's supposed to be the quickest route to Chelmsley Wood yet still used to take me a good hour to get into the city from Tile Cross sometimes.
The 14 I quite like actually. Once you get past Alum Rock Road, you get a good spread of different areas along the route e.g. Marston Green and Moorend Avenue, compared to routes like (as I said above) the Soho Road corridor where the scenery never changes pretty much until you get to West Brom.

Personally I think the Claribels 94 is the quickest from Chelmsley but that can also run into traffic problems, a lot of the time it is just pot luck!

In terms of reliability, I've never had a great time with the 126. I wouldn't say it was the best route ever either, it's virtually a bus station, a straight line, Wrens Nest, a bus station, a straight line, a left turn, another straight line, and Birmingham Markets, the only redeeming feature are the Voith & ZF Tridents that operate on the route, in my opinion
